What Charle's Students have to say  . . .

Your commercial class was right on target!  By putting the "clones" through the realistic  hoops of auditioning for commercials, you armed us with the stuff to meet the competition.  Not only did you give us insight into the business of show business, and the techniques of commercial making, you gave us the confidence to act on our dreams.  That's teaching!  Teaching is more of an art than a science; you are the artist!  Beyond that you are willing to share your insight with your students in a profession where some are not always willing to share.  - Frank Borgia

Greetings!

This week as we continue with our series on "The Twelve Commandments of Auditioning"
"VII. Thou Shalt Pay Attention to Personal Hygiene"
Whenever I attended casting director workshops in Hollywood, I would usually ask the question, "What is your pet peeve?"  One answer I almost always got was "Shaving lotion and perfume."  Of course we usually want to be neat and clean when we show up for an audition, freshly showered and neatly groomed whenever possible.  Guys tend to shower and shave then slap on some after-shave lotion - often too much.  I had a casting director tell me "After shaking hands all day I want to drive home with my hand sticking out of the sun roof!"  Remember guys, "A little dab will do ya'."  Just a drop behind the ears or on the wrist is all you need.  Same for the ladies.  After a day of interviewing dozens of you gorgeous creatures, each of you wearing your own lovely scent, the office smells like the cosmetic counter at Nordstroms!
Another thing to remember, it's often hot here in Sacramento, as well as in Southern California, and even if it's not, when  going to auditions some people have to account for their nervousness. That's where deodorant comes in.  So don't use too much perfume or cologne and avoid smoking just before the audition.  Casting offices are usually pretty small. Smells linger and can lead to a situation that might really give a casting director a bad impression.  Make sense?
Okay, next time, "VIII. Thou Shalt Be Nice to the Casting Assistant ."

Chadwick got his start back in the day of our fondly remembered "Star Trek: Enterprise".  He's mostly gone the movie route since then, working with many offices over the years and now has branched out on his own to produce and cast his projects he wants to do.  He is always on the look-out for great talent, especially producing the way he does.

BIOGRAPHY:  Chadwick casts voice-over, television, theater, & film. He started off in a fast paced office primarily covering episodic television, television pilots, voice-over for video games, and feature films.

*In 1999 Chadwick help cast at the Center Theatre Group of Los Angeles (Mark Taper Forum & Ahmanson Theatre).

Notable projects while working there:
1999 Shakespeare Rep directed by Sir Peter Hall, "Hughie" starring Al Pacino
"Enigma Variations" starring Donald Sutherland

Neil Simon's "The Dinner Party"

Chadwick's start into feature film casting (as a Casting Associate) began with
"Herbie: Fully Loaded"
"Just Friends"

"The Heartbreak Kid"

(1st Feature Film Casting Director credit in 2003) "MINI'S FIRST TIME" (Tribeca Film Festival) a Kevin Spacey produced film that starred Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Nikki Reed, Jeff Goldblum, Carrie Anne Moss.

This led to a 2nd Spacey produced project "COLUMBUS DAY" starring Val Kilmer & Wilmer Valderrama.

Chadwick cast and co-produced "Getting That Girl" which premiered on Sunday, October 23rd, 2011, at the Arclight Cinemas Hollywood.

Other 2011 Projects for Chadwick include :
"A Green Story" (Producer / Casting Director),
"The Drunk" (Co-Producer / Casting Director),

"Rockbarnes" (Co-Producer / Casting Director),

"The Embryo Who Came In From the Cold" (Radar Pictures),

"House Without a Home",

"Miss L" (Pilot Presentation),

"Pawn" and "THC" (both Imprint Entertainment).

Tuition for this two-day workshop is only $150 if you register before May 13
After May 13, $175

A fight is brewin' at mom's house. Austin is on the brink of something big. He has secured a Hollywood deal for his latest film script. Lee is a bum: a free agent. He's got nothing to his name except a six pack and a criminal record. They're brothers but they are as different as day and night. In this deliciously dark play of duality, Sam Shepard takes a long, hard look at America, from the romanticized West to the tranquility of picket-fenced suburbia.

Featuring Eric Baldwin, Cole Alexander Smith*, Janis Stevens*, Jonathan Rhys Williams*
*Members of Actor's Equity Association
