Mosaic Acting Academy
Voted Sacramento's Outstanding Training Resource for Actors

Auditions, Announcements, and Other Info
for August 24
Greetings!
Alyssa Montalbano
It amazes me how many people pay good money to register with Media Casting Group then don't bother to post a headshot.  If you want to be called, there are two things that are necessary for the casting folks to know - what you look like and how to contact you.  When we're casting something, it gets very, very hectic.  The easier you can make it for the casting directors, the more likely you are to be called for an audition or background work.
So . . .  When submitting always attach a headshot or recent digital photo, (small jpegs are best,) your resume (in the proper format; there's a sample on my website www.charlieactor.com) unless it's for background, then resumes aren't really necessary, and your best contact phone number in the body of  your email.  If it's for an audition, we'll contact you through your agent if you have one.  For background work we call you directly.  Agents don't want to be bothered with background work, as it not commissionable.  And DON'T call us unless it's an emergency.  We simply don't have time to take calls when we're casting or on the set.

Do these few simple things and you can greatly increase your chances of getting work.
Here's hoping I'll see you on the set soon!
Charlie

Registrations are now being accepted for this popular series to be held at
the Mosaic Acting Studio in Rancho Cordova
(directions provided upon registration)

SATURDAYS, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
SEPTEMBER 11 - OCTOBER 2
Don't wait! This class usually fills quickly!

Learn from someone who has appeared in more than three dozen National Commercials! Nothing in show business, including movies, costs more money to make, minute for minute, than a national commercial. And nothing pays better! Members of the Screen Actors Guild earn more each year from commercials than from movies and television combined. This class will cover all the aspects of the commercial audition, from getting the call from the agent or casting director, to the right headshot, copy analysis, working with cue cards, the ear-prompter, the call-back, and  more.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Tuition: $300 (students who have taken this class may repeat for $150.) This very popular class usually fills quickly, so to ensure a space register on line with your credit card or PayPal now

Casting Notice for Feature Comedy

Audition August 28th
Callbacks August 29th

Baristas (a working title) is a feature length comedy about a group of oddball coffee mongers and what happens when their perfect little work environment is threatened to be destroyed by the forever thriving corporate monster.

A short scene will be filmed in September as a commercial and fundraising vehicle.
The scene is simply titled "Magnets" and it stars two of the main characters Zoe and Kris. Zoe has just broken up with Kris (spoiler!) and in this scene Kris attempts to get Zoe back, in her own very unique way. Since this is apart of a bigger feature a desire to work on this project long term is a bonus, but not a requirement.

We are going to have a casting session for both roles simultaneously so you may be considered for either part. Please send your rsum, headshot (or recent photo) when you RSVP to

[email protected]

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS

Zoe
Zoe is quite girly, tall & slender. She's in her mid to late twenties and is definitely the more nurturing of the two. She's athletic and actively participates in many charitable fundraising events such as AIDS marathons.

Kris
Kris is petite but mighty. She's right out of high school, very outspoken and over sexualized. She is also an avid comic fan. Her fear of commitment leads to a flirty, scrappy attitude, as she constantly craves attention.

Thank you all for your interest and I hope to see many of you there on August 28th!

From a Mosaic Acting Academy Student and Working Actress ...
Heather Pier
I recently made the switch to working in the Sac/SF area to the LA scene. I had taken classes from local teachers and had gotten tons of feeback about what to expect and strategies to use when I got to LA. However, with one exception, the advice that I got from people up here were just plain WRONG! Perhaps they have worked in this business in the past, but in the acting business (just like any technology) changes happen fast.
The one exception was Charlie Holliday. It pays to get advice from an actor with so much recent experience in Hollywood. All of his advice turned out to be right on the money.  LA is a big and expensive move to make. Save yourself time, money and frustration by taking Charlie's classes. He's a pro and a wealth of information. He'll give you good, solid, up-to-date information that you can use.  -  Heather Pier

Ladies polo People have been asking where to get the MOSAIC ACTING clothing articles with the beautifully embroidered logo I've been wearing - polo shirts, long sleeved Tees, hats, jackets, etc.
I get them from a company called Queensboro.  If you'd like to order something, go to the Queensboro web site and check them out.  When you find what you want, email the article number and color selection and size you want to me and I'll put together an order as soon as four of you give me payment for the items.  (I'll pay the shipping charges for you.)  You can mix and match items, and there's no minimum order for you.  Give me a call or email if you have any questions.  Thanks,
