Hooray! School's out soon and summer vacation begins.
What better way to spend a summer day than laying in the shade with a good book. And, what better way to be ready for school in the fall than to read for fun. Research shows that kids who read at least 6 books during the break maintain their reading skills.
Our Summer Reading Program, "Be Creative", is designed to encourage your child to read for enjoyment and learning. Kids, teens and adults are all invited to join in the fun of free programs, activities and prizes all summer long.
The kick-off begins on Saturday, June 20th.
See you at the Library,
Diane Greenwald Director

Summer Reading begins Saturday, June 20th. Kids ages 2 - 12 are invited to come to the library, register for summer reading, make some cool stuff, check out some books and go home and read or be read to. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and continues throughout the summer.
The activities begin at 9:30 on Saturday and end at 12:30. There will be a karate demonstration by Don Rodrigues Karate Academy at 10:00 and an instrument petting zoo with Robert's Music from 11:00 - 12:30. There will be messy crafts the whole morning.

If spring inspires you to clean off your bookshelves, the Library is happy to take your gently-used books. Bring them in any time to the Circulation Desk or the Reference Desk, and we'll give you a receipt to use for your charitable deductions. If you have too many to carry, just come to the Reference Desk and let us know you are there. We'll send someone to the back door to help you empty your trunk. Most donations are sold at the Friends of the Library Book Sale to raise money for the Library's museum passes, Summer Reading Program, and many music and cultural programs for adults. Thank you for supporting the Library!
