When your books come in, the staff wraps them in a paper with the first four letters of your last name and the last four digits of your library card number.  They are placed on the shelves in alphabetical order so you can easily find them when you come to the library.  The papers can be discarded in the recycling bin and you can take your books to a staff member for check out or use the self-check machine.
