Thanks to Avid Technology
We're incredibly grateful that Avid Technology has generously donated their state-of-the-art products to help Create Now build a recording studio for our Sound Off music program. Avid has given us Pro Tools, M Box, Artist Control and so much more, including a Torq Connectiv DJ performance system. Through Avid's support, we'll be able to teach the at-risk youth that we serve how to put their energy into making music instead of creating trouble.

| Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to transform the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities. The organization serves kids who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and orphaned, are left homeless, runaways, teen parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated. In the past sixteen years, we've reached over 28,000 of these vulnerable kids through our unique arts mentoring and cultural programs and services. |

Metamorphosis
Thanks to support from the Kaiser Permanente Foundation, we're creating a magnificent mural with a Recovery theme called "Metamorphosis" at Phoenix House in Lake View Terrace (a residential rehab center for 120 teenage substance abusers). Since January, muralist Roger Dolin has been mentoring some of these youth in designing and painting a beautiful mural in their main lobby, where thousands of people will get to see it for years to come.
Our "Create A Mural Now" workshops engage, educate and entertain while motivating these youth to stay in treatment. Our mentors teach them skills in math, language and visual arts. They also learn about careers as muralists. Carole-Ann Scott, Phoenix House Director of Family Services, said, "Youth see that, absent drug use, they can create something beautiful and lasting." One young artist named Alejandro remarked, "It gives me a motive to behave all week and I'm able to express my feelings on a wall without getting arrested." Maria said, "It helps to get away from the drama that happens on the unit. And my family is really happy that I'm doing this because it's something different from what I usually do." Read more |
Two New Initiatives
While the recession has forced many nonprofits to shut down or cut back on programs, Create Now continues accelerating to meet the growing needs of the children that we serve. This new growth means that we must raise more funds, so that Create Now can keep expanding. It's why your support is so greatly appreciated! Please donate today.
We're proud to share our two newest initiatives, which are already reaching more vulnerable children:
CAP (Community Arts Projects) helps to cap violence in communities, mainly at public venues like parks and recreation centers, by bringing together families with their neighbors to collaborate on fun, creative activities that heal tensions, while also preventing child abuse and gang involvement.

Creating Now Events are one-time programs that often include both parents and their children so they can bond while working together to create music, art, dance and other artistic expressions. This helps to replace traumatic memories with happier ones.
