Create Now Honored with the IVCLA "2011 Community Resource Award"
Create Now is thrilled that we have been awarded the "2011 Community Resource Award" thanks to the International Visitors Council of Los Angeles (IVCLA). We received this beautiful award on November 3rd at the Wilshire Country Club.
The International Visitors Council is an adjunct of the U.S. State Department, which invites emerging leaders from around the world to visit our country so they can exchange ideas and develop diplomatic relationships. These dignitaries are selected by staff at our American embassies.

Debra Wilson Mentors Homeless Kids
Debra Wilson ( MADtv) has been a supporter of Create Now for eight years. She has inspired hundreds of youth in detention camps and other facilities that we serve. Now Debra is volunteering every other Sunday at Comunidad Cesar Chavez, an emergency homeless shelter in Boyle Heights with around 30 young children. Debra spends hours with the kids, who adore her. Sometimes she reads them classic stories, acting out the characters with passion. Other days she helps them make fun arts projects, like glow bead bracelets, Halloween pictures and cookie decorations. Debra said "All of these families have become my family. The bonding experience through socializing, crafts, music and storytelling has truly made an impact on my commitment to Create Now" Children's Program Coordinator Mayra Chavez said, "Debra's reading and craft program have greatly impacted the children's interest in academics. They are now more engaged in reading and want to take books home to read. This is an amazing program."
Jackie, age 10 said, "Debra makes things funner. I love hanging out with her and doing arts and crafts and doing voices."
