Join us - $10 a month can transform a child's life
Please consider joining us in transforming lives of vulnerable youth by donating $10 per month to help us ensure that we keep our valuable programs running.  Automatic monthly deductions can be made thorough our secure website. Thank you for your generosity.

Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to transform the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities. The organization serves kids who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and orphaned, are left homeless, runaways, teen parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated. In the past fourteen years, we've reached over 21,000 of these vulnerable kids through our unique arts mentoring and cultural programs and services.
Two Great Workshops at Phoenix House

Phoenix House is a residential facility in Lake View Terrace with 80 teenagers ages 13-18 who deal with substance abuse challenges. Create Now is providing these youth with two fabulous workshops in Graphic & Web Design, and also Creative Writing.

Graphic & Web Design
Phoenix House Danny EmilyOur AmeriCorps VISTA,  Emily Schuck, has organized a terrific Graphic & Web Design Workshop that includes job training, such as resume writing and interview techniques. Our students are learning how to create logos and brochures, and to design websites. Emily will help these youth to find jobs and internships. If you'd like more information, email [email protected] or call (818) 686-3000 x 4124.

Creative Writing
Screenwriter Ron Osborn ("Meet Joe Black," "West Wing") is mentoring girls at Phoenix HoPhoenix House Writinguse in our Creative Writing Workshop. Each week they share personal essays and poems while improving their literacy skills. Some of this writing will be included in the newsletter that the boys in Graphic Design are creating so that everyone at Phoenix House can enjoy their creations.

Special thanks to Oprah's Angel Network for their support of our Write Now literacy program, and to AmeriCorps.

Create Now is Moving!

Create Now hasNew office outgrown our space, especially with all of our arts supplies and equipment plus our growing staff. Luckily, we've found a fantastic place (with a great landlord and wonderful neighbors) downtown near the L.A. Convention Center.

Our new place is almost 1,400 SF, it's cheaper then our current New office 2office and includes parking! The space is currently being renovated, so officially as of November 4, 2010, our new address is: 1611 S. Hope Street, Suite # E, Los Angeles, CA  90015. Our phone number has changed to: (213) 747-2777. The fax is (213) 747-9777. We're seeking additional furniture and appliance donations.

Thanks to Shawn Saliaman and Phyllis Palin at Colliers International for their help!
Save the Date for our Talent Showcase!

Talent ShowcaseCreate Now is putting on a show! Thanks to our volunteer Angelique Toshi and the generosity of West Post Digital in Santa Monica (which will host our event), we're giving some of the youth that we serve the chance to share their talent as singers, musicians, poets and dancers. Our Talent Showcase will take place on Saturday, November 13th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Comedian Maxwell Glick will MC and popular local band A Welcome Distraction will perform. Tickets are $15. Check our website soon for more details. We look forward to seeing you there!
Thanks to USA for Africa

USA for AfricaThanks to Create Now's newest board member Ken Kragen, we are delighted that USA for Africa has given us a donation for operating expenses, especially with our upcoming move. Ken produced "We Are the World" and was one of the founders of this wonderful organization that provides support to those most in need, especially in Africa. We're very grateful to USA for Africa for their generosity.
