Join us - $10 a month can transform a child's life
Please consider joining us in transforming lives of vulnerable youth by donating $10 per month to help us ensure that we keep our valuable programs running.  Automatic monthly deductions can be made thorough our secure website. Thank you for your generosity.

Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to transform the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities. The organization serves kids who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and orphaned (foster youth), are left homeless, runaways, teen parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated. In the past fourteen years, we've reached over 21,000 of these vulnerable kids through our unique arts mentoring and cultural programs and services.
Lennox Park Mural Celebration

We're excited about our "Create A Mural Now" workshop in Lennox Park that was celebrated on August 26th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.

Our artist mentor Roger Dolin worked with over 100 children and community members in Lennox to design and paint a beautiful 1,200 square foot mural called "Lennox Past, Present and Future."

12-year-old Angel said, "Everybody helped and it was teamwork. My favorite part was painting the space ship."

Thanks to the Supervisor for his generous support, as well as that of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

Dance Encourages Foster Girls

Micol Arias is a trained dancer who performs with the "Let's Dance Company" at East Los Angeles Community College. She recently coached six girls ages 9-14 in dance at Maryvale in Rosemead, a group home for 80 abused and neglected girls.

"When I signed up to volunteer through Create Now, little did I know that my experience would be so rewarding. Coaching the girls allowed me to use dance as a form of therapy and reassured me that social work is a career I want to pursue," said Micol.

Anne Lobsinger, Volunteer Coordinator at Maryvale said, "Micol broke the ice and helped the shy girl feel included. This is so critical for our girls to experience positive adult role models."

One girl shared, "I really liked it when I could do the same thing as Micol. She was nice and made me feel like I was good at dancing."

Join us for a Unique Art Exhibition at the
Altadena Library Community Room,
with Artwork from Children at Five Acres

For the past year, Create Now mentor Melissa Hogan has been teaching a weekly fine art workshop to abused and neglected kids ages 8-13 at Five Acres, a large group home in Altadena. Melissa teaches them about different painters, their styles and places in history. Afterward, the children get to create their own unique paintings.

An exhibition of their artwork will be on display at the Altadena Library Community Room during the month of September.

Come join us on Saturday, September 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM for the Opening Reception.
Refreshments and snacks will be served.

The Altadena Library is located at 600 E. Mariposa Street, Altadena, CA  91001. We hope to see you there!
