Join us - $10 a month can transform a child's life
Please consider joining us in transforming lives of vulnerable youth by donating $10 per month to help us ensure that we keep our valuable programs running.  Automatic monthly deductions can be made thorough our secure website. Thank you for your generosity.

Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to transform the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities. The organization serves kids who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and orphaned (foster youth), are left homeless, runaways, teen parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated. In the past fourteen years, we've reached over 20,000 of these vulnerable kids through our unique arts mentoring and cultural programs and services.

Kelly Regier, a former staff writer at the San Francisco Chronicle, is an Emmy-award winning journalist who now works as a freelance writer. She is also a stay-at-home mother to two daughters, ages 3 and 5.

Amanda and LanyardThanks to a generous grant for our Write Now literacy program from Oprah's Angel Network, Kelly taught an eight-week Creative Writing workshop at Mary's Academy, the high school for girls living at Mary's Shelter, which is a maternity home for pregnant teens and their babies in Santa Ana.

"New mothers want to talk about their babies, so the students in my workshop were most inspired to write about, and for, their own children. Teaching the workshop was a fun break from the daily grind of caring for two pre-schoolers at home, and the perfect excuse to practice more creative writing myself," Kelly shared.

18-year-old Brittany said, "My favorite part was writing about my daughter, and knowing that one day, she will read what I wrote about her."

English teacher Carey Davis said, "These students often function far below grade level in all subjects. This Creative Writing workshop has allowed my students to experience success in an area they often find challenging. Thank you Create Now!"

"She Is My Mom"
by Yesenia
(Mary's Academy)

She is like my other half. She is good and she is bad but she is still my mom. She stayed with our drunk father, let him beat her, and beat us, but she is still my mom. She forgets our birthdays and doesn't call us on holidays. She had a chance to keep us, but blew it, and yet she is still my mom.

Beyond it all, being a mom is hard work and that she still tries, makes her the best mom and, for trying, I admire her, because she is my mom.
LaFine logoThanks to LaFine Clothing!

LaFine makes high-quality clothing with extraordinary graphics that are manufactured in the U.S. They invited Tami Erin, star of the "Pippi Longstocking" movies, to design a T-shirt, with the proceeds from sales at boutiques around the world to be donated to Create Now. Thanks to their generous contribution, we're able to maintain our innovative arts mentoring programs for the most vulnerable youth in our community. We really appreciate the support of LaFine Clothing and Tami Erin.

Thank YOU!

Thanks to you, Create Now programs prove that the arts can impact the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth in ways that other intervention programs cannot.

Working together, we are transforming lives through creative arts!

Sincerely,

The Create Now Team
