Create Now is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to transform the lives of high-risk and at-risk youth through creative arts mentoring, education, resources and opportunities. The organization serves kids who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and orphaned (foster youth), are left homeless, runaways, teen parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance abusers, gang members or incarcerated. In the past fourteen years, we've reached over 20,000 of these vulnerable kids through our unique arts mentoring and cultural programs and services.

Create Now Joins Global Xchange
We're absolutely thrilled that Create Now was selected by the British Council to be one of five youth arts organizations in the U.S. to participate in their first multilateral Global Xchange program with six countries (Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, France, Northern Ireland and the U.S.). This is also the first time in their 75 year history that Americans are included in their exchange program.
Starting on January 17, our Founder and Executive Director Jill Gurr will be spending three weeks in Durban, South Africa, along with community activists from Homeboy Industries, LA's Best. Reach LA, Street Poets, and 25 other unique arts education organizations from Africa and Europe.
In March, the 30 Global Xchange participants will reunite in Belfast, North Ireland. Everyone will be sharing best practices and working together on community projects. We will also select a youth who will live in both countries as an intern for six months with international youth, starting in June.

 Artistic Journeys
Each year, we organize cultural excursions for thousands of the most vulnerable youth in Southern California through our Artistic Journeys program. These events take many forms: concerts, plays, circuses, museums and more. Cultural excursions motivate youth to overcome their challenges and introduce them to the world of arts. For most, it's their first time experiencing a live performance or event of any kind.
Deputy Probation Officer McKinney escorts her wards (who were formerly incarcerated) on many of our cultural outings. "Because of the exposure provided by Create Now, several of my female clients have joined dance classes, taking ballet and tap."
