Need to Know
  • A team from Virginia will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo on May 21, and the church there is in need of used chasubles and stoles. If you would like to donate these items, please send them to the Diocese of Virginia, Attention Buck Blanchard, 110 W. Franklin St., Richmond VA 23220. 
  • A group of women from St. Paul's, Richmond has been in the news for their partnership with a village in Tanzania. Learn more about Dadas & Design.  
  • The new Virginia Episcopalian magazine wants to hear from you! You can get involved with the upcoming summer issue in a couple of ways:  
    • The Readers' Page is a new feature that will include readers' reflections, prayers, photos and other submissions. The focus of the next issue's Readers' Page is "Why Am I Episcopalian?" Send your submissions - in the form of written responses to the question, drawings, reflections, etc. - to Emily Cherry at echerry@thediocese.net by May 21.     
    • We want to see your churches - specifically, your church doors! Send electronic, color photo files of the front doors of your churches to Emily Cherry at echerry@thediocese.net by May 21 to be included in a special photo feature.    
Diocesan Events 
  • The Bishop's Spring Conference will take place next week, May 7-9, at Shrine Mont. Clergy, lay professionals and their spouses are invited to come together for fellowship, spiritual growth and professional development. Learn more and sign-up now!  
  • The diocesan offices will host a New Clergy Orientation on Tuesday, May 22 at the Mayo Memorial Church House in Richmond.     
  • Save the date for a workshop on "Seeing the Face of God in Each Other," sponsored by the diocesan Committee on Race & Reconciliation, October 26-27 at Christ Church, Glen Allen.   • Province III of the Episcopal Church will host an annual Christian Formation Retreat May 22-24 at Shrine Mont, with facilitator the Rev. June Hardy Dorsey from the Diocese of Virginia. Learn more.

Bishop's Jubilee & 50 Years of Camps at Shrine Mont
It's time to make plans to attend the Bishop's Jubilee at Shrine Mont, July 14-15! This year will also mark a special celebration of 50 years of camps at Shrine Mont.

This year's musical line-up includes
Morwenna Laso & Jay Pun; Jackass Flats; and
the Morning After.

Saturday's festivities also feature a 5K Run/Walk, Ultimate Frisbee, the Family FunFest; a BBQ chicken dinner and a special performance by Hoss.

On Sunday, take a look at the past and future of diocesan camps at Shrine Mont. Join in a celebratory Eucharist with the bishop and participate in a special dedication of a plaque commemorating the Shouting Prayer.

You don't want to miss this weekend of fun, fellowship and friends!
