Need to Know
  • Mustard Seed Grant guidelines and applications are now available for parishes, missions, regions and college chaplaincies working to strengthen the various ministries of the Diocese. The deadline for the initial letter of inquiry is April 2, 2012.  Learn more about diocesan grants
Diocesan Events 
  • The bishops of the Diocese invite clergy to attend the Reaffirmation of Ordination Vows and Blessing of Oil of Chrism. Four services will be held during Holy Week, all at 11 a.m.: on April 3 at St. Peter's in the Woods, Fairfax Station; on April 4 at Emmanuel, Woodstock; and on April 5 at Epiphany, Richmond and at St. Stephen's, Culpeper. Please register online.  
  • Make plans now to attend two exciting events planned by the Parish Youth Ministries Committee! The Spring Day of Service, March 17 at St. Andrew's, Arlington, will bring together youth (grade 6-12) to learn about mission and its value to our diocese while participating in a community service project. Senior High Week, April 13-15 at Shrine Mont, will challenge, inspire and strengthen high school students. All youth and youth leaders are welcome.

Church Spotlight
  • The Virginia Girls Choir, a city-wide choir for girls in grades 4 through 11, is conducting auditions for the coming academic year. The choir, based at St. Stephen's, Richmond, includes girls from 13 different schools and a variety of religious backgrounds. Girls earn stipends and college scholarships while they take part in Sunday worship (twice a month), trips and tours, and special appearances and concerts. Summer choir camp and recreational activities are also part of this enriching experience. No prior musical training is required.   • Do you have extra or unused altar supplies (linens, coverings, frontals) or vestments that would benefit the Episcopal Church of Liberia?  To donate items to be hand-carried on Easter Monday, April 9, 2012 by a delegation of St. Paul's, Bailey's Crossroads, please contact the Very Rev. James C. McCaskill at rector@stpaulsbxr.org.  Donations must be received by Sunday, April 1.  
  • St. Paul's, Richmond will host "Saints of the Apostolic Age" as part of the Acts of Faith Festival. The one-act plays will take place on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. from March 14-April 4, no tickets required.

ECW Lenten Quiet Day
The Episcopal Church Women will sponsor their annual Lenten Quiet Day on Thursday, March 29 at the Virginia Diocesan Center at Roslyn under the theme, "Blessed Are They Who See." The Rev. Canon Susan E. Goff, canon to the ordinary, will lead the the event, exploring the theme through Scripture, music, meditations and silence.

Come walk with the faithful who are seeking in Lent to follow the way that leads from life through death to life again.

Lunch, snacks and Eucharist are included. Men and women are welcome to attend. Cost: 30. Download a registration form.
