  • The diocesan Disaster Preparedness & Response Ministry Team is preparing for a Volunteer Day to take place at Aquia Church, Stafford on February 25. The team has invited other dioceses to speak about recovery efforts, and experts to speak about skills and training for mission trips. Stay tuned for more information.

  • Westminster Canterbury, Richmond will sponsor a seminar on January 26: "When Words Fail: Practical Ministry to People with Dementia." The seminar will highlight the physiological, emotional and spiritual effects of dementia. The cost is $20, and space is limited. Last week the Episcopal Church debuted a new Web site, complete with new navigation and customizable stained glass home page.
 

Important Council Updates
Today, January 11, is the deadline for Council registrations, exhibitor registrations, nominations, resolutions, amendments, award nominations and reports of committees, commissions, regions and related organizations. These should be submitted by close of business today.

After today, resolutions and amendments must be submitted from the Council floor, pending a vote of approval by two-thirds of Council. 600 copies of the amendment/resolution must be provided for those submitted from the floor.

A print packet of necessary Council materials will be available tomorrow, January 12, and will be posted on the Council Web site with a "safe to print" designation. This packet will include all submissions made to date. Please bring this packet with you to Council. The Council Office will send an e-mail notification when Council documents are ready for printing.

The Pre-Council Open Hearings will take place this Saturday, January 14 at All Saints', Richmond. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m., and the meeting starts at 10 a.m. If you are not able to participate in person, you may send your comments and feedback via e-mail regarding amendments or resolutions.
