Disaster Preparedness & Response

The Diocese of Virginia Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry Team (www.dovdpr.org) has been formed, is up and running, and preparing for a busy 2012. We are working hard to prepare the parishes of the Diocese for any potential disaster and we are in the process of visiting each region to help jump start each parish's efforts to prepare for potential disasters. We are also gearing up our recovery efforts.

We are currently in contact with four Episcopal Dioceses (Vermont-floods, North Dakota-floods, Tennessee-floods, and Alabama-tornadoes) who will be hosting recovery teams in 2012. We will start off 2012 with a recovery day in Region I on January 16. This is to provide recovery assistance from the August 23, 2011 earthquake.

We will also have a table at Annual Council again this year. Please stop by and visit with us and get more information on our vision for the future of this ministry. We invite you to join this ministry team.
