Diocesan Events
Marcus J. Borg, canon theologian at Trinity Cathedral, Portland, Ore. and biblical and Jesus scholar, will join members of the Diocese March 13-14 at St. George's, Fredericksburg for a series of events. The bishop and clergy of St. George's will host a special event for clergy of the Diocese, and several other events are open to the public. -Sunday, March 13, 10 a.m. "What's Christianity All About?" Free and open to the public. -Sunday, March 13, 7 p.m. "An Emerging Form of Christianity Today." $9 in advance, $10 at door, attend both evening sessions for $18 in advance, $20 at door. Register online. -March 14, 9 a.m. "What is the Gospel?" An event sponsored by Bishop Johnston and the clergy of St. George's to discuss the heart and core of the Christian message. Jesus on Trial in Virginia
The Church of the Holy Comforter, Richmond is sponsoring a series of public Lenten events challenging the moral core of the death penalty. Concluding with seasoned ligators actually trying Jesus under Virginia capital sentencing rules, these events will comprehensively address faith issues and the death penalty in a unique and compelling way. Osler and Jeanne Bishop Saturday, March 5, 7:30-9:00 p.m.: Jesus on Trial in Virginia: Two Perspectives Sunday, March 6 10:00 a.m.: Transfiguration at the Mountaintop and the Kitchen Table Saturday, April 16 7:30-9:00 p.m. Jesus on Trial in Virginia: Sentencing Christ to Death Sunday, April 17 after the 10:00 am service: Osler and Bishop will conclude with an Adult Education Forum. ICRIBINKI I Can't Remember It Because I Never Knew It Camp Spotlight: St. Elizabeth's Camp is for those with mild to moderate disabilities who are paired with volunteer buddies. The camp started in 2001 with seven people and has grown to over 60 campers and volunteers this past summer!
Congratulations to Church of the Epiphany, Oak Hill and St. Peters-in-the-Woods. Their congregations have doubled in size during the last year.
