- The Sudan Ministry Team will host an open lunch at Annual Council on Friday, January 21 at 12:30 p.m. Please plan to come and hear the latest developments in Southern Sudan's quest for independence and opportunities to deepen our relationships with our friends in the Sudan. We will meet in the Lake Anne room. Cost of the lunch is $20. Please RSVP by January 18 to Jennifer Ernst at Jpe60@aol.com.
- The Diocese of Virginia will participate in an interfaith prayer service on Wednesday, January 19 to honor the National Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service will take place at Aldersgate United Methodist (1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria) at 7:30 p.m., with the Rt. Rev. David C. Jones, bishop suffragan of Virginia, participating. Reception to follow. All are welcome.

ICRIBINKI I Can't Remember It Because I Never Knew It In 2010, your Diocese requested and was awarded grants from two foundations. The grant funding is for scholarship assistance or book allowances for 20 seminarians and for critical repairs and restoration needs for four of our churches.

Last-Minute Council Reminders
*Beat the last-minute registration rush and check-in on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. *Welcome Bishop Gulick back to Virginia at a special reception on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom. *NEW this year: Participate in a variety of workshops. Topics from reaching youth and young adults to Native American Ministry and new Title IV policies will offer opportunities for spiritual and professional growth. Download the schedule and descriptions online. *Make sure you bring both the print packet and the supplemental print packet of materials with you to Council. *New to Council, or just looking for a refresher? Plan on attending the Council Orientation Session on Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. in the Lake Anne Room. *A new package of finance materials, including a pledge report, income statement and audit report, is now available online for review. Paper copies will be distributed on-site at Council. *CD copies of the 215th Council in 2010 will be available for pick-up in the registration area. Make sure your rector, vicar or priest-in-charge picks up a copy for your church! |
