- A new on-line resource from the Alban Institute, funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., is now available as a free gift to congregations. The Congregational Resource Guide is for all clergy and lay congregational leaders and is intended to point them toward the very best resources in the areas of pastoral care, education, worship, leadership, management and outreach.
- The Virginia Episcopalian is looking to share stories in the following ministry areas: thrift shops; anti-bullying initiatives; mind and body wellness ministry; and youth Bible study groups. Contact Emily Cherry to share your church's story.

Diocesan Events
- The Sudan Ministry Team will host an open lunch at Annual Council on Friday, January 21 at 12:30 p.m. Please plan to come and hear the latest developments in Southern Sudan's quest for independence and opportunities to deepen our relationships with our friends in the Sudan. We will meet in the Lake Anne room. Cost of the lunch is $20. Please RSVP by January 18 to Jennifer Ernst at Jpe60@aol.com.
- The Diocese of Virginia will participate in an interfaith prayer service on Wednesday, January 19 to honor the National Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service will take place at Aldersgate United Methodist (1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria) at 7:30 p.m., with the Rt. Rev. David C. Jones, bishop suffragan of Virginia, participating. Reception to follow. All are welcome.

Annual Council Details Thanks to those who were able to brave the snow to attend Saturday's Pre-Council Open Hearings at St. Stephen's, Richmond.
Please share your feedback with the Committee on Resolutions and the Committee on Constitution and Canons on the resolutions and canonical amendments submitted to date. You can give both committees feedback through resolutions@thediocese.net and canons@thediocese.net. The committees will hold hearings late Friday afternoon of Council for discussion of additional matters submitted from the floor that are accepted for consideration by the Council.
We will continue to publicize new updates and materials, including any revisions to the resolutions, on our Council Web site and via e-mail as they become available.
Reminder: Those who are either new to Council or are looking for a refresher are encouraged to attend the Council orientation session that will take place the Friday morning of Council at 7:30 a.m.
