"My life is my message."

Mohandas K. Gandhi

What a great question to ask ourselves...... "What message is my life giving to the world?' Upon contemplation, some of us might not like the answer we hear inside our own heads. For others of us who live in the truth of our being, that might be a comfortable statement. For me, that statement has something to do with coming to know the Self as a God being of love, peace, joy, compassion and generosity; and as a result, being able to live every day in heightened awareness and personal integrity. What a gift to the planet one then becomes who lives with that spiritual understanding.

At the Symphony of Life Spiritual Center we are a trans-denominational community which comes together in support of each member as we travel on our individual and unique spiritual journeys of the heart. We are waking up to that which is seeking to express itself within us, and we welcome all those who would want to journey with us.

Our affirmation for the day: With the renewing of my mind, I'm made brand new in every moment of every day.

In peace and love,

Rev. Karen Wylie

Concert under the Stars and Silent Auction

Our concert and silent auction this past Sunday was a huge success largely because of the love and care of so many individuals who served as team members in preparation for the evening! We provided a wonderful gift to the Ojai community. Below are just some of the pictures taken during the evening. My heart-felt gratitude and love goes out to all those who participated and helped to make this a great time for all!

Spiritual Cinema Night

Our Ojai community's free monthly Spiritual Cinema Night, sponsored by the Symphony of Life Spiritual Center in collaboration with Casa de La Luna Retreat, will take place tonight, Friday, July 28, at Casa de La Luna. This month's screening features Defending Your Life, a philosophical romantic comedy written, directed and starring Albert Brooks as an advertising executive (Daniel) who gets killed by a bus moments after taking possession of a brand new BMW. Daniel finds himself in "Judgment City," where he and his after-life "attorney" (Rip Torn) must defend Daniel's life choices and make the case that Daniel faced his fears and learned from his experiences--which seems doubtful--in order to advance to life in a better world. While worrying over his defense, Daniel falls in love with Julia (Meryl Streep), who has lived masterfully and appears certain to advance, while Daniel will be sent back to Earth for another try.

There is a lively discussion after the movie. Doors open at 6:30 and the movie begins at 7:00 pm. Although the event is free, donations are gratefully accepted and go to Casa de La Luna Retreat, whose state-of-the-art multimedia studio is ideally suited to these and other gatherings. Casa de La Luna Retreat is located at 710 S. La Luna Avenue, in Ojai (between Baldwin Road and W. Lomita Avenue). There is parking on the property.

Creative Adventures Children's Program

Many thanks go to Rev. Will Castagna who spent this past Sunday morning with the children. The subject was gratitude. Rev. Will and Rev. Karen are pictured below with Rylan and Grace Wynn and Evelyn Clerou who favored the congregation with a beautiful solo.

We express our deep love and gratitude for our Volunteer of the Month, Donna Elam, who is continuing her amazing service to the Symphony of Life as chief chef and a Team Leader for the "Concert under the Stars" evening at the Ojai Retreat. We are so grateful for Donna's sacred "yes." She serves our spiritual community in so many ways. She is pictured below with Rev. Karen.
