Greetings to you as we enter this new month of June, the beginning of the summer season. I've had some challenges lately and it was a perfect reminder to me the importance of keeping my "eye single," that is, keeping my attention on God by staying true to my daily spiritual practice.

No matter what is going on in the world around us, no matter what challenges we face....and our human experience dictates that we will face some in the course of our life.....we must remember to keep doing our spiritual work in the midst of it. I would call it keeping my attention on Divine Spirit and on the goodness of God. When I do that, invariably miracles happen, and the impossible becomes possible. When we are reminded of that truth and sit in the stillness contemplating that, we can find peace in the midst of chaos. When we are living in integrity, authenticity and truth and our mission is a clear and good one, things have a way of working out.

Yes, we live in a great, grand and glorious universe. The blessings abound when we stop long enough to see them. They are everywhere, and I live in gratitude for all that I see.

Our affirmation for the day: I keep my eye single upon God, and my path is made smooth before me.

Symphony of Life Book Club

Those of us involved with the Symphony of Life Book Club call it the best kept secret. We have a wonderful, interesting group of people who meet once a month to discuss the book we've read during the prior month and to select the book we will be reading for the following month. We will be reading State of Wonder by Ann Patchett for the month of June. Below is a picture we took at our most recent meeting. Our next meeting will be held on Friday, July 6, 7:00 pm at Donna Elam's home. You are welcome to join in at any time.

Concert under the Stars and Silent Auction

On Sunday, July 22, the Symphony of Life is putting on another one of its great musical events. It will be held in the evening at The Ojai Retreat and you will be hearing more about it as the time draws near. This will be a fund-raiser for us and, as part of it, we are planning a Silent Auction. If you have something that you think might be a wonderful item for our Silent Auction (a beautiful art object, use of an Italian villa or even a service you would like to offer) we would appreciate your contacting Rev. Volunteer of the Month

We are happy to announce that our Volunteer of the Month for the month of June is Diane Besocke. Diane is one of our prayer warriors, and she has consistently held a high positive energetic vibration for our center each and every Sunday. We are so grateful for her dedicated service to the Symphony of Life. Thank you Diane!

Creative Adventures Program

Working with our children this past Sunday were Rev. Marilyn Miller and Todd Chandler. We welcome children 3-11 years of age to enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement. Our program is enriching and appropriate for young people regardless of their religious backgrounds.
