"When the Fall is dismissed, traditional Christology cannot help but go with it and a new Christology must emerge, as a phoenix rising from the ashes of the past."

Bishop John Shelby Spong, Sins of Scripture

Bishop Spong further states, "It will be a Christology based not on fall and rescue, sin and salvation or even guilt and forgiveness, but on the call to wholeness, the power of love and the enhancement of being." These words of Bishop Spong are powerful!

There is a new paradigm for new times. Nothing is the same. We can no longer live in the past with our old ideas and precepts about the world and the nature of God.

We, as New Thought Ancient Wisdom practitioners of truth, are poised in just the right place. Willing to open ourselves completely in trust and faith and a yielding into our Divine Self, the loving God of our knowing can express through and as us, and the world meets a new God and a new truth. It meets a new Christology.

This is a significant time in our history. We are facing challenges, but they are necessary for the evolution of our individual and collective consciousness. The challenges of the times force us to awaken spiritually, but back of all of it is our loving God, the Love Intelligence that created all things and that which is seeking to emerge mightily within us.

Standing in a place of strong inner knowing and conviction, we can ride the tide of the shifting times unafraid and excited at the prospect of a new world order. Through our own Becoming, we participate as a beneficial presence in the reshaping and redefining that is taking place in this world of effects. Our participation as love itself is an imperative. We go back to the beginning, our own Becoming, when Being was as important as Doing.

Simply, we return to God!

Our affirmation for the day: My faith is strengthened and I open myself completely to my own Divine awakening!

In peace and love,

Rev. Karen Wylie

Free Spiritual Cinema Night

Join us tonight for our free spiritual cinema. We will be screening "Seven Days in Utopia." It is an inspirational story about golf and life, both of which turn out to be far more meaningful than just a game. When a talented young golfer (played by Lucas Black) suffers a humiliating disappointment in his first pro tournament, he finds himself stranded in the town of Utopia, Texas. There he meets an eccentric rancher (Robert Duvall), whose profound perspective on life teaches his young protégé how to examine his part and reconsider his future. Doors open at 6:30 pm; show starts at 7:00 pm, Casa de La Luna Retreat, 710 S. La Luna Avenue. It's FREE, thanks to the generous partnership of Casa de La Luna Retreat; donations are always welcome, however, and will be given to Casa de La Luna for hosting this event.

Dances of Universal Peace

After service this Sunday, May 27, we are going to have the Dances of Universal Peace in our sanctuary. There is no experience required to participate! Just show up at the Symphony of Life on Sunday, May 27, at 12:15 and you can join in. This is a spiritual practice that brings us in touch with our sacred selves in an environment that allows us to honor the sacredness in each other. For more information about the dances, contact Amira Webster, (805) 701-1327.

An Addition to our Name

At our recent Board meeting, we decided to add a tag line to our name which you will now see on most of the information that goes out from our center. We are Symphony of Life, The Ojai Spiritual Living Center.

Symphony of Life Book Club

Those of us involved with the Symphony of Life Book Club call it the best kept secret. We have a wonderful, interesting group of people who meet once a month to discuss the book we've read during the prior month and to select the book we will be reading for the following month. Our next meeting is Friday, June 1st. You are welcome to join in at any time. At each meeting, we have a stimulating conversation and share a dessert. The meetings begin at 7:00 pm.   The June meeting will be held at Rev. Karen's home, 411 E. Villanova Road, here in Ojai. To find out more about the meetings, please contact Peggie Williamson, (805) 640-2450, for more information.

"Concert under the Stars"

On Sunday, July 22, the Symphony of Life is putting on another one of its great musical events. It will be held in the evening at The Ojai Retreat and you will be hearing more about it as the time draws near. This will be a fund-raiser for us and, as part of it, we are planning a Silent Auction. If you have something (a beautiful art object, use of an Italian villa (??) or even a service you would like to offer) that you think might be a wonderful item for our Silent Auction, we would appreciate your contacting Rev. Karen at (805) 640-3743.

Tithe Presentation

This past Sunday, we were happy to be able to present our March tithe check to the non-profit Ojai Valley Youth Foundation. Olga Singer was at our service to receive a Certificate of Appreciation and our tithe check. The Ojai Valley Youth Foundation is providing wonderful service to the young people in the Ojai Valley, and we are grateful for their dedication and commitment to the youth of this area. Olga and Rev. Karen are pictured below.

Guest Musician

We were happy to have Karie Hillery back with us this past Sunday, playing the piano and singing her beautiful and uplifting songs.
