"I think we should feel we are on a mission. Not a mission of sadness to save souls...they are not lost; if they were, you wouldn't know where to look for them....but a mission that glorifies the soul. Not to find we are here for salvation, but for glorification...the beauty, the wonder, the delight of something that sings and sings and sings in the soul of man."

George Bendal, The Philosophy of Ernest Holmes

This past weekend, I attended the Agape International Spiritual Center Revelation Conference in Los Angeles. It was a powerful time with like minds coming together in agreement about the goodness of God. We came together to rejoice in celebration of the waking up that is happening on the planet at this time. There were people from many different states as well as people from other countries throughout the world. In addition, the program was live-streamed out to many others sitting in the comfort of their own homes.   There were speakers like Dr. Will Coleman, a wonderful practitioner and teacher of biblical theology and mysticism, Iyanla Vanzant, author and founder of the Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development, and Jean Houston, one of the founders of the Human Potential Movement noted for her ability to combine history, culture, new science, spirituality and human development into her teachings. The music was amazing and included incredibly talented young people singing and dancing about all that is hopeful in the world. I met young people who are working together to create projects so that kids in Africa have a chance for a higher education, something that they have never had before.

The vibration was high and joyful. The bottom line message I received from this conference ...... hope is not lost! There are so many wonderful, incredible things happening on the planet right now. Love, joy, and working together in cooperation....these were constant themes. The challenges we face present an opportunity for growth individually and collectively. There are no mistakes ...... we are constantly changing and growing and coming into new awareness. The potential is within each of us to live a magnificent life. It is up to us as individuals to determine just how magnificent we allow our lives to be. We can choose to ride the wave of well being.

Our affirmation for the day: I look forward to each new great, grand and glorious day! I live in miracle consciousness!

In peace and love,

Volunteer of the Month

Our Volunteer of the Month for the month of May is Bob Quinn. Bob is currently the team leader of our Hospitality/Greeting Ministry. From the very beginning when Bob first joined us, he has been a wonderful service angel to the Symphony of Life. (It was his big white truck with the red flames on the side that pulled our first-ever Fourth of July float last year.) Whenever anything is needed, Bob is there to serve and to assist. Every community needs lots of Bob Quinns. We are lucky that Bob is here in community with us! Pictured below are Bob, Tiese and Jake Quinn.

On Board with the Board

Our featured board member today is our Treasurer, Tiese Quinn. Tiese has a B.A. in English Literature. Tiese says she is the first-born of an Air Force family and she lived a nomadic lifestyle for most of her life. She was born in Illinois but considers Griswold, Iowa to be her home town because both of her parents were born and raised there, and it was the place where they always returned. Growing up, Tiese lived in many states and spent three years in Germany. Along the way, she added a husband, Bob, and children, including Jake, who try their best to keep up with her. She says she has had several careers: Finance Company Bookkeeper, Plan Processor for a Civil Engineering firm, horse and mule packer/guide in the Southern Sierra, and Comptroller for that same Civil Engineering firm now owned by her husband Bob and her.

Fortunately for the Symphony of Life, Bob and Tiese moved to Ojai in 2009. Tiese has served on the Board of Directors for over two years, first as Vice President, and now as Treasurer. She says that it has been such a pleasure to see the growth and commitment of our community. She is looking forward to a continuing relationship of many years' duration. Tiese says that since landing in Ojai, she finally feels that she is at home. That is very good news for us!
