"I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being."
Hafiz
I greet you with joy on this beautiful April day! During this Holy Week, my attention once again turns to that teacher of teachers, Jesus. We celebrate him, his life and resurrection as one of the most influential religious leaders in world history. He was not the great exception but rather the great example to us all. He was a great mystic, one who fully understood his oneness with all of life. During the service, we will be talking about life, death and rebirth which is something we do over and over again as part of our conscious evolution. The life of Jesus was such an example of that for us. Easter celebrates the final triumph of life over death.
In addition, we have a very special treat for our children (and the child in all of us). We are going to have a visit from Mr. Easter Bunny! If you have children in your life, you might want to bring them to service so they can be "up close and personal" with Mr. Bunny. For an additional treat, as part of the children's program, there will be an Easter egg hunt!
So join us this Sunday for a beautiful morning of inspiration, illumination and joyous song. You will come away uplifted!
In gratitude, Rev. Karen Wylie

Free Spiritual Cinema Night Our last cinema night was a rousing success! We had a full house for our showing of the film "The Way." We had to add more chairs, plus the sharing from Norm Carter, who has himself walked the Camino twice, added great interest for the evening. People had a chance to ask Norm questions about his own experience. Norm's comment to me was that the film was very accurate in its portrayal of the experiences and the scenes along the way. Our next Spiritual Cinema Night will be Friday, April 20. We will be screening "From Ambition to Meaning: Finding Your Life's Purpose," a compelling film in which Dr. Wayne Dyer explores the spiritual journey from ambition to meaning. Through the intertwined stories of an overachieving businessman, a mother of two seeking her own expression in the world, and a director trying to make a name for himself, Wayne Dyer examines the shift from the ego's goals of achievement and accumulation to a life of meaning, focused on serving and giving back. As the movie unfolds, each of the characters experiences "a quantum moment," through which they begin to listen to "the music inside," with inspirational results. As always, a discussion will follow the screening. Doors open at 6:30 and the movie begins at 7:00 pm. Although the event is free, donations are gratefully accepted and go to Casa de La Luna Retreat, an eco-holistic retreat and eco-spiritual technology center, which volunteers the use of its multimedia studio for the event. Casa de La Luna Retreat is located at 710 S. La Luna Avenue here in Ojai.

Volunteer of the Month Our Volunteer of the Month for the month of April is Rev. Marilyn Miller, the Director of our Youth Adventures Program. Rev. Marilyn has spent two years working diligently putting together our wonderful children's program. In that program, we welcome children 3-11 years of age to enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement. The program is enriching and appropriate for young people regardless of their religious backgrounds. In addition, Rev. Marilyn has served as an advisor for our Symphony of Life Board of Directors. She has been an outstanding resource because of her many years in ministry. She has also helped in putting together the major events we've had over the past couple of years. I'm personally very grateful for Rev. Marilyn's presence in our community!
