My talks for this new month of January 2012 have largely focused on the power of our thoughts to create our experience. My reading for this past Sunday was from Emmet Fox who says, "What you think upon grows. This is an Eastern maxim, and it sums up neatly the greatest and most fundamental of all the laws of mind. What you think upon grows. Whatever you allow to occupy your mind, you magnify in your own life. Whether the subject of your thought be good or bad, the law works and the condition grows. Any subject that you keep out of your mind tends to diminish in your life because what you do not use atrophies.
"The more you think about your grievances or the injustices that you have suffered, the more such trials will you continue to receive; the more you think of the good fortune you have had, the more good fortune will come to you. This is the basic, fundamental, all-inclusive Law of Mind. What you think upon grows."
We are surrounded by a creative force which reacts to our thought. This is the basis of all faith and effective prayer. This is why Jesus said we should pray believing. When Jesus said that it is done unto us as we believe, he implied that there is a power that can, will and must react to us. This power has no choice, however, but to react to us in the way we think. We can change our thinking and, in so doing, cause the Law of Good to act affirmatively for us instead of negatively; but It can bring you only as much good as you accept. This accepting is an act of faith.
Ninety percent of our thinking is unconscious. The secret then is to become conscious of our mind chatter and to realize that we have a choice about what we're thinking.

Symphony of Life Book Club Say, if you like to read, you should be coming to our Symphony of Life Book Club meetings. Our conversations are great fun. We are meeting tonight, Friday, February 3, 6:00 PM, at Bob and Tiese Quinn's home, 701 Foothill Road, Ojai 93023. Our meetings are a potluck, so bring a dish to share. We are going to be choosing our new book for the month of February. You are welcome to join in at any time. You can call Tiese at (805) 272-8300 for more information about tonight. Free Spiritual Cinema Night We had such a successful night at Casa de La Luna for our Friday night showing of the feature film of the month entitled "I AM." "I AM" is a joyful, profound and surprising movie which everyone enjoyed. We had around 50 people in attendance, which made the discussion afterwards quite lively. Filmmaker Tom Shadyac did an excellent job putting this film together, enabling us to catch the essence of our interrelationships and our oneness with all life. 
We had an opportunity during the evening to present a Certificate of Appreciation and our December tithe check to Margaret Elliott, the founder of Casa de La Luna for her wonderful work in the world and generosity in joining us in collaboration to bring these uplifting films to the Ojai community. Kathlyn and Gay Hendricks Sound Garden Sanctuary Join Darrell Deerborn for an individual and group healing experience at the Woman's Center right after service on Sunday, February 19, from 12:15 to 1:45. Darrell will be facilitating a new wave which bridges science and spirituality utilizing sacred breath, toning the chakras, creative imagination and the highest intentions of love and peace. Creative Adventures Winter Program Our deep and profound thanks to Rev. Marilyn Miller and Kwan Hearn who facilitated our youth program this past Sunday. We welcome children 3-11 years of age to enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement.
