"There is a hidden love center in human beings that you will discover and savor and nourish yourself.

That will be your food."

Rumi

I send love and blessings to you this day! We are moving into a beautiful time of year when the leaves on the trees begin to fall and everything is harvested, gathered and stored for the winter ahead. These are some of my favorite times, particularly as I remember my visits to the New England area and the awesome array of colors on the trees all over that part of the country. Nature is expressing something so beautiful to behold, and it can teach us much about the cycle of our own lives. We shed the old in order to get ready for the new. For each of us that may look different in terms of what we are releasing, but the process is the same. We are preparing ourselves for the wonder that is just ahead. We must clear the way for our new self to emerge, just as the leaves fall from the trees to make way for the new leaf buds of Spring.

As we welcome the shedding and potential for new growth and change, we are bathed in God's light just as the sun casts its light upon the barren trees as the blossoming of Spring unfolds. Nothing remains the same; change is constant. We welcome it for we understand that a new day is dawning. There is a quiet glow emanating from deep within our own consciousness as we cultivate our sacred and beautiful inner life.

Our affirmation for the day: Today I reap the harvest of my deepening consciousness......more love, more peace and more joy!

In peace and love,

Rev. Karen Wylie

Appreciation and Thanksgiving

We extend a very special thank you to Rev. Greta Sesheta who set such a beautiful tone in our sanctuary this past Sunday. She spoke to us about prayer in such a way that we were actually basking in the vibration of prayer itself.   She blessed us with her peaceful clarity, and love was everywhere. We are grateful for the gift of her Presence.

Paying it Forward

This past Sunday, we presented a check for $585.93 to Noel Douglas who is a board member of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition. As a tithing organization, the Symphony of Life gives 10% of its monthly income to a worthy nonprofit chosen each month by its Board of Directors. The Ojai Valley Green Coalition is a coalition of governmental and non-governmental organizations working together to "advance a green, sustainable, and resilient Ojai Valley." We are grateful for all that the Ojai Valley Green Coalition does to preserve and enhance the quality of life here in Ojai.

Ojai Day Event

The Symphony of Life will be participating this year for the first time in the Ojai Day event on Saturday, October 15, which will be held in Libbey Park. We will have a booth where members from the Symphony of Life will be handing out hugs and kisses (of the Hershey variety) to visitors who come by. We will need lots of help in setting up and taking down the booth and in serving at the booth for some portion of that day. It will be lots of fun. The team leader for this event is Chris Prideaux. Please call her at (805) 415-3361 to volunteer your services.

Symphony of Life Book Club

Our Symphony of Life Book Club will be meeting at 6:00 PM on Friday, October 7th at the home of Tiese and Bob Quinn, 701 Foothill Road, to discuss our latest book selection, Pavilion of Women, by Pearl Buck. The meeting is a potluck so bring food to share. The meeting is open to everyone. For more information, contact Tiese Quinn, (805) 272-8300.
