The Fourth of July Parade

Deep Gratitude and Appreciation!
First, our many, many thanks to Steve Todd, of Todd Farm Service, here in Ojai (805) 798-1253, for the loan of his wonderful flatbed trailer. Below is a picture of the trailer after Steve loaded the bales of straw on top. Steve was so obliging and helpful; whatever we needed, he was quick to respond. Steve sells livestock hay wholesale and retail. He sells to feed stores and private parties. It is a pleasure doing business with Steve!

Second, our sincere thanks to Ron Price over at Ojai Valley Feed, 1114 Tico Road, Phone: (805) 646-5442. Ron let us use his backyard to build our float. He is a completely generous and helpful man. He has a full range of pet foods and supplies. Go see Ron and tell him that the Symphony of Life sent you!

Outdoor Summer Concert with Jami Lula!
Time to start encouraging your friends and family to buy some tickets to the upcoming outdoor benefit concert with Jami Lula. He'll be here on Sunday, July 24, to sing in the morning at our spiritual center and then later in the day, he will be performing an outdoor summer concert at the Ojai Retreat on Besant Road. We are planning a refreshment/appetizer reception in the Waterfall Garden at the retreat from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. It will include a no host bar and a silent auction, and then Jami will perform in concert on the Shangri-la Terrace from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Our fabulous silent auction features a 7-day, three-bedroom condo stay in Hawaii, and includes artwork, spa and restaurant packages and many other exciting items. If you have some things you'd like to donate for the silent auction, please contact Rev. Marilyn Miller at (805) 640-0498. This promises to be a beautiful event. Tickets are available right now at www.solsc.org, $20 in advance; $25 at the door. You won't want to miss this beautiful summer evening of fun!

Rev. Marilyn Miller and Practitioner Todd Chandler were our fabulous teachers for our children this past Sunday. In alignment with our spiritual center's theme of the month, "Prosperous Living," the young people were given a great lesson about money. They discussed how God is energy, and since God is in all things, money is indeed energy. Looking at the U.S. money symbols they read "In God We Trust." They learned a prosperity formula which will help them understand money management tools at an early age, including how to live within their means: Give 10% of your money to God; save 20% (not in a spending account but saving for long term needs) and spend only 70% of each dollar. If you like to interact with children, we welcome you to join our staff either as a teacher or as an assistant. Please call Rev. Marilyn Miller, (805) 640-0498, if you are interested in participating. SOLSC Book Club
The Symphony of Life Book Club is currently reading Wicked River, The Mississippi When It Last Ran Wild, by Lee Sandlin. We will be meeting tonight, Friday, July 8th, at 6:00 PM. Our meetings are a potluck so bring a dish to share. Everyone is welcome to join in at any time. Contact Peggie Williamson (805) 640-2450 for more information about tonight's location. This evening we will be choosing our reading selection for the coming month.
