"If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.  If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me,and thy right hand shall hold me."

Psalm 139:8-10

How grand and glorious to be living so fully alive and awake! Every day is a celebration of life when we have the eyes to see the perfection of God's creation all around us. The quote above reminds me that always and forever, the love of God surrounds us and sustains us, no matter what is happening in the outer world of appearance. We are here to remember our original perfection......that certain something within us that never changes, that knows nothing of fear, doubt and worry, that certain something that sees only beauty and love everywhere.

This Sunday I'll be talking about cultivating self-knowledge. We want to cultivate a capacity to be with the questions, to investigate, and to explore the events of everyday life with curiosity. It is fearless self-exploration. It is developing an intimacy with the Self. It is my knowing that in engaging in this way, we shall find God in the flesh. So many of us seek for the answers outside of ourselves, attending a multitude of workshops, following the latest and greatest guru, believing that someone else has the answers to all the questions we've been asking. The truth is, everything we need is already within us, just awaiting our recognition of it. When we let go and allow ourselves to feel, sense and know the truth of our being, we see that what we've been seeking has been here all the time.

The only thing that stands between you and freedom are the accumulated thoughts, beliefs and emotions of your years of living. What thought has done, thought can undo. The mental patterns laid down in your subconscious throughout time can be consciously removed. You can decide your own destiny. You can remove every obstruction and gradually implant new patterns in your mind and new ways of being.

So I welcome you into this new era of heightened awareness. We are living in exciting times, and we are on the cutting edge of a new design for living. We can trust that good prevails. We can see it and by our very seeing and expectation of it, we create it! Welcome to your NEW AND BIG LIFE!

Our affirmations for the day: I practice the presence of God and stand in my true identity as a spiritual being! I am in the flow of divine inspiration! Creative ideas surge into my awareness, seeding my path with endless opportunities for good!

In peace and love,
Rev. Karen Wylie

New Class: "This Thing Called You"

We have a fabulous new 8-week class which will be beginning Thursday, June 2, 7:00 - 10:00 PM. This class will be taught by Rev. Karen, and it will take the participants deeply into their own personal transformation. We will be taking a closer look at who we are, what we believe, how we can shift some of our limiting patterns to become our own authority. We will examine the things that get in the way of our true freedom. To register, contact Rev. Karen at (805) 640-3743 or e-mail Karen.Wylie@solsc.org. The registration fee is $195 and payment plans are available.

The Symphony of Life Enters the Ojai Fourth of July Parade!

We have received our entry form and will be meeting on a regular basis now to prepare our float for the Fourth of July parade. We are inviting any of our members who are interested in participating to come to the planning meetings that we will be having now every Monday afternoon until parade time at 4:00 PM, 410 Bryant Street, Suite K. There are opportunities to help design, decorate, ride on or dance alongside of our entry. Our official organization contact and Entry Marshall for this year is Candace Hull. Everyone is welcome! We will also be planning for a Symphony of Life picnic after the parade. Come join in for lots of fun!

Gratitude and Appreciation!

We extend our deep gratitude and appreciation to our wonderful Director of Music, Miyuki Harley who sang for us this past Sunday, Mother's Day, along with Renee Mandala. Their medley of songs dedicated to Moms everywhere was beautiful. Our music ministry continues to grow and evolve, and we are excited about that!

Discover Your Creative Doorways

This unique class is an opportunity to learn how to effortlessly connect with your creative intuition. Each of us has the innate ability to create, yet it is not always in the arts that your creative genius can be found. The question is, how can you effortlessly connect with the creative energies in the universe and produce the creative expression that is uniquely yours? This class, facilitated by Bonnie Landau Weed, artist and graphic designer, will be held Saturdays, June 4, June 18 and June 25, 2011, 9:45 AM to 1:15 PM, 605A E. Oak Street, Ojai, CA. With materials provided by Bonnie, the cost is $135 for all three classes; $50 per class if purchased individually. If you provide your own materials, the cost of the class is $95 for all three classes; $35 per class if purchased individually. To find out more information or to register for the class, e-mail or call Bonnie at Bonnie@LandauDesign.com or (805) 640-1458. 100% of the profits from this class will be donated to the Symphony of Life Spiritual Center (www.solsc.org).

Our youth program supports parents in raising joyful, happy children who are self-confident, spiritually aware, global citizens. Each Sunday, our children 3-11 years old enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement. Our program is enriching and appropriate for young people regardless of their religious backgrounds. As part of our Sunday program, children get to explore the roots, purpose and meaning of special holidays throughout the year.
