"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying,

I am the light of the world;

he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,

but shall have the light of life."

St. John 8:12

I send you loving greetings during this Holy Week. At this time, we celebrate the life and resurrection of one of the most influential religious leaders in world history. Yet Jesus was a simple man. He was not a Messiah in his time, but rather a maker of spoons and bowls. He traveled in a radius of about 100 miles with a group of followers of scarce means. He spent most of his time outdoors, answering spiritual questions, teaching people through stories, and healing the sick. To us, Jesus, the Christ, was a way shower rather than a savior. He was a master teacher giving lessons and examples of how all people, through faith and instruction, can learn to demonstrate the power to heal through the use of prayer, right thinking and mindful actions.

It is extraordinary that to this day, we are still learning from his teachings. For me, his life is a great inspiration primarily because he was a simple man of flesh and bone, and yet he understood his own Divinity .... his connection to God. That gave him great power as a way-shower and truth teller. He knew that he was a creation of God. He knew that he had direct access to the Divine and could speak to God directly. He talked to God and was answered. He did not ever doubt his worthiness, nor did he doubt his role to speak the truth nor the power of his being.

We are all the Beloved of God. We are inspired by the great ones who have gone before us and the great ones that are on the planet now, but we are never less than they. There is the same capacity for greatness in each of us. There is the same capacity to leave a great legacy, but leaving a great legacy should never be our focus. Jesus did not even know the impact he would have on the world during his lifetime. He just followed his inner urgings, mostly inspired by God.

The message of Jesus is clear. There is great opportunity to birth something powerful within us during this Holy Week. We realize, some of us perhaps for the first time, how beloved we are, how powerful we are as co-creators with God, and how much we are supported by this benevolent universe. We are being birthed into a new identity. We can no longer stay small so that those around us will feel comfortable. I invite you to RISE UP BELOVEDS into the greatest glory and life you have ever known. The time is now!

Our affirmation for the day: I allow the light and love of God to illuminate my Being! I radiate the joy of God everywhere I am!

In peace and love,
Rev. Karen Wylie

Creative Adventures Winter Program

Our beloved Sana Musson facilitated the children's program this past Sunday, and she has a wonderful program planned for our children this coming Sunday as part of our Easter celebration. We are very grateful to her for her unwavering dedication to our children.

Our youth program supports parents in raising joyful, happy children who are self-confident, spiritually aware, global citizens. Each Sunday, our children 3-11 years old enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement. Our program is enriching and appropriate for young people regardless of their religious backgrounds. As part of our Sunday program, children get to explore the roots, purpose and meaning of special holidays throughout the year.

We welcome assistant teachers who enjoy children and are willing to give of their time once monthly or quarterly. Please call Rev. Marilyn Miller if you are interested (805) 640-0498.
