Symphony of Life Annual Congregational Meeting Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be held this Sunday, April 3, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM right after our church service. We will be discussing our vision for the future, financial and budget matters and other issues of concern to our spiritual community. We need a quorum to conduct business at the Annual Meeting. If you are a member, new or old, please plan to attend. Lunch will be a potluck, so please bring a dish to share. Jami Lula in the House! Once again, we have been blessed with a miracle! Jami Lula is a singer, song writer and recording artist who appears all over the country. He has offered to bring some Lula vibes to our congregation here at the Symphony of Life on Sunday, April 10th. This musical experience will move your body, touch your heart, uplift your Spirit and free your mind. Please join us on Sunday, April 10th, for a powerful musical treat! Sacred Service Saturday Don't forget our Sacred Service Saturday tomorrow, April 2nd, from 9:00 AM to 12:00. We will be in service at the Equine Sanctuary, 239 Boardman Road, Ojai 93023. Bring a sack lunch and drink for a picnic on the property afterwards. Whatever your talent, there is a place for you. No horse experience necessary. We enjoy these Saturdays where we, as a congregation, give service to our community. The camaraderie we experience working together for the good of the greater community is a gift that we only understand and appreciate in the doing of it. Spiritual Cinema Night for the Symphony of Life One of our new congregants has suggested that we should have a once-a-month Friday night Spiritual Cinema evening for our Symphony of Life community. That sounds like a great idea to me! Some of you out there in readership land probably have some ideas about where we might have such an evening or how we might set this up and perhaps you even have a library of some good films from which to choose. We would love to hear your great ideas! New Publicity Team Forming Say there, if "getting the word out" is one of your many talents, we would love you to join our Publicity Team which is forming now to spread the word about the Symphony of Life Spiritual Center. We are welcoming new people and want to broadcast our whereabouts far and wide. We need your ideas, inspiration and vitalizing energy. If this calls to you, please contact the Team Chairperson, Rick Ricksen, at (310) 562-4710, rick4844@gmail.com. Service Opportunity Alexis Ells, who runs the Equine Sanctuary here in Ojai, is still in great need of help on the ranch. Through some accidents and sickness, her regular help is not available. No horse experience is required. All kinds of skills are needed .... grounds maintenance, tractor work, gardening, even office and computer work, etc. Contact Alexis at (805) 453-4567, www.theequinesanctuary.org. Special Musical Inspiration I wanted to acknowledge and express my gratitude to Patricia Cardinali and Miyuki Harley who provided some wonderful music for us two weeks ago. They are pictured below.
Creative Adventures Winter Program Rev. Marilyn Miller and Jake Quinn were our wonderful facilitators in the children's program this past Sunday. We are very grateful to them. Learning to meditate was the topic for our Youth Adventures Program. Sitting in a circle, the children offered things that could cause them anxiety: taking a test, failing a test, or having other kids say mean things topped their list of difficulties. They practiced breathing, closing their eyes and finding the peace within. They also sent peace and energy to the people of Japan after drawing pictures of difficult emotions and their opposite. We had seven visitors which was GREAT!!! Below are some pictures of the children's program.
We love our youth program which supports parents in raising joyful, happy children who are self-confident, spiritually aware, global citizens. Each Sunday, our children 3-11 years old enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement. Our program is enriching and appropriate for young people regardless of their religious backgrounds. As part of our Sunday program, children get to explore the roots, purpose and meaning of special holidays throughout the year. We welcome assistant teachers who enjoy children and are willing to give of their time once monthly or quarterly. Please call Rev. Marilyn Miller if you are interested (805) 640-0498. The Symphony of Life Book Club We will be meeting tonight, Friday, April 1st, at 6:00 PM at the home of Peggie and Duane Williamson, 11756 N. Ventura Ave, Ojai. We will be choosing our book for the month of April. All are welcome to join in at any time. It is a potluck meeting so bring a dish to share. Contact Peggie Williamson, (805) 640-2450, for more information.
