"Let the river run,
Let all the dreamers wake the nation.
Come, the New Jerusalem."
Carly Simon, Let the River Run
Our theme for the month of March is "Creating the Life You Want to Live." This Sunday my topic is "Dream Big." When I read the following Inner Vision by Practitioner Judith Feldman from the Agape International Spiritual Center, I realized I could not say it better.
She writes, "What if the greatest dream we could have was to know God? Every Friday when my son was growing up, we'd head to Tower for a CD to celebrate his week. Tower was a place where he was completely at home, where he felt like he belonged, where hardly anyone stared. One such Friday while perusing the bins, he piped up: 'I want to be in the music business.' For me it was a fleeting moment into Rio, without autism.
"It had been a tough week, full of testing. The doctor sat me down and told me to get real, that my expectations for Rio's ability to grow were unfair to him. So, I 'got real' and asked, 'Do you want to work here?' Rio looked at me. 'I want to be a rapper and own my own label. You got to dream bigger than that, Mom.'
"A rapper? Impossible. His language was usually nonsensical and endlessly repetitive. Then I was awakened, filled with joy and my whole life changed. I'd met God, and left my Hollywood dream behind and began a walk in the miraculous, as I meditated with my son and the autism began to disappear and language appeared.
"I was reminded of all this recently when an old friend dropped in. A movie idea. For Batman. Batman's a closed franchise, off limits. No way. But after a spectacular trial run of the pitch, the music showed up on the p.a. as I shopped in Ralph's. A sign? For me? The answer came immediately on a t-shirt cruising by, 'DREAM BIG.'
"As I write this we're headed to New York where Rio will be rapping at Carnegie Hall. Will Batman sell? It doesn't matter, because I see an ever bigger dream on this road I'm on. Just ahead........God."
Our affirmation for the day: I live and love fearlessly in creating the life I want to live. I am surrounded by love. My needs are met!
In peace and love, Rev. Karen Wylie

Announcements
Gratitude and Appreciation
We send our special appreciation out to Loree Lynn, Tom Oman and Annavae who joined our very own Miyuki Harley in presenting our musical inspiration this past Sunday. Loree and Tom did a medley of songs and Annavae sang a song that she had written. Our congregation is filled with talented people and we are blessed by the sharing of their creativity.
Thank you also to our wonderful didgeridoo player, Cindy Wright, who is pictured below. It's no doubt that Spirit comes through with love and joy as she opens the service every Sunday, allowing the healing, centering energy to flow and touch everyone in the sanctuary.
Our First Baby The Symphony of Life has had its first baby, a little girl. Sister Moutique is the proud mother.....now of four girls. We have set up an on-line program to sign up to bring food to the family. Lunches and dinners, fresh fruit and healthy snacks are appreciated. Sister Moutique could also use help during the day with her toddler, Amadi. She could use someone to stop by for a couple of hours to give her an extra set of hands while she showers, naps with the infant, etc. So all you need to do is click the link below and you'll be taken to the website. Meals for Sister Moutique Creative Adventures Winter Program Our deep appreciation to Rev. Marilyn Miller and Todd Chandler who are pictured below with Rev. Karen and the children. They did a fabulous job with our youth this past Sunday. Rev. Marilyn, Todd and the Children
We love our youth program which supports parents in raising joyful, happy children who are self-confident, spiritually aware, global citizens. Each Sunday, our children 3-11 years old enjoy prayer, story telling, visual arts projects and/or music and movement. Our program is enriching and appropriate for young people regardless of their religious backgrounds. As part of our Sunday program, children get to explore the roots, purpose and meaning of special holidays throughout the year. We welcome assistant teachers who enjoy children and are willing to give of their time once monthly or quarterly. Please call Rev. Marilyn Miller if you are interested (805) 640-0498. The Symphony of Life Book Club Our book club will be meeting this coming Friday night, March 4th, at 6:00 PM. We will be choosing our book for the month of March. Everyone is welcome to join in at any time. It is a potluck meeting so bring a dish to share. Contact Peggie Williamson, (805) 640-2450, for the location of Friday's meeting or for more information.
Our AIM and Auto-tithe Program At the Symphony of Life, we are building a consciousness of abundance. We currently have two tithing programs in place. For our regular tithers, we have our auto-tithe program, which makes tithing more convenient as your tithe can be taken automatically out of an account you set up for such a purpose. Whether you are a veteran tither or are just learning about the advantages of tithing, we also have our great AIM Program (Abundance is Mine) to help you become even more aware of the abundance that surrounds you by tithing 10% on your unexpected income. Unexpected income might be a lunch or dinner that someone purchases for you or an unexpected check in the mail. Tithing is helping us to move into the consciousness of Divine flow and circulation.
