From the Bishop

True love is more than a word, it is a witness. It is more than acknowledgement, it is an act of obedience and service. Jesus wants to know: do you love me, really?
At the Cross,
Bishop Benjamin

Scripture of the Week: Jesus above all
"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." |
The "Great Commission" in Action
The Girls to Women bible study (grades 6-12) recently completed a service project directed toward the children at the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital located at St. Vincent's Hospital (Indianapolis, IN). In the spirit of serving those outside the walls of LWCC, the young ladies decorated bandanas for the young chemotherapy patients at the hospital. The young ladies are learning that true service is about looking outside of themselves and being a witness of God's love to the world.

Mother's Day
Sunday, May 11th is mother's day. This is a time to reflect on the blessing that our mothers have been in our lives. The bond between a mother and child is one that defies verbal description. As Christians, we can look to Mary's relationship with Jesus as a model for all mother-child relationships. Mary served as a source of constant support for her son, Jesus. In turn, Jesus greatly loved and honored his mother.
Jesus showed the depth of his love for his mother, when during his crucifixion, he spoke to her and the disciple he loved (John) saying " Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother" (John 19:26-27), thereby ensuring that Mary would be taken care of even after his death and resurrection. Jesus loved his mother so much, that she was in his thoughts even at the time of his greatest trial!
Let us take this opportunity to say "I Love You" to the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, mentors, and great women who have had an impact on our lives.
Attention Women of the Light!!

The Women of the Light invite mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces, cousins, and girlfriends to the 2008 Women's Conference. This year's guest speaker will be our own daughter in ministry, Rev.
