Texas Monthly named Boerne's Dr. Tim Rainey of Lifetime Dental one of the top dentists in Texas for the third year in a row. Justifiably proud of this award, Tim has also passed all the requirements and will be formally receiving his Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry next summer in a ceremony in San Diego. His new title, FAGD, which will appear in his title after DDS) means he is a general dentist who is a "fellow" in the Academy of General Dentistry and has been recognized by other general dentists as a leader and exemplified to other dentists the importance of quality continuing dental education. To earn the FAGD, Tim had to complete a minimum of 500 continuing dental education credit hours, pass a comprehensive exam and have been an AGD member for three continuous years. Census 2010 Enters Second Phase
The voluntary mail participation phase is over for the 2010 Census and in preparation for the second phase of the "Count" they have recruited tens of thousands of people to go door-to-door across the country to complete the project. Census workers are trained to go into communities, knocking on those doors of families who have not returned their Census questionnaire.
Official Census workers wear a badge identifying them as Census Bureau employees. These workers will NEVER ask for social security numbers, bank account information, immigration status, donations, credit card numbers or fees and will never ask to come in your home. They are prepared to conduct their interview on the doorstep if you don't invite them in.
Most Census workers will have the distinctive black canvass bag with the Census logo on it. They will provide (on request) a phone number to call to verify their identity. That phone number is 1-800-563-6499.
Census workers will be knocking on doors between now and mid-July.
The data must be delivered to the President on December 31. More detailed information will be delivered to communities by March 2011.
The Chamber asks that you share this information with your employees to encourage them to fully cooperate with this important national project. |

CellTeks offers signal boosters customized for Your Business
At the Chamber, volunteers field calls from residents asking "do you know anyone who can fix cell phones?" Well, yes we do. But more recently the calls have been about signals, or the lack of signals. CellTeks has long been in the business of selling refurbished cell phones along with providing cell phone repair. As part of their services, the company has worked with customers over the years in trying to resolve "dead zone" issues. Signal strength has become an even bigger issue since contractors are being asked to build highly energy-efficient buildings that feature Low-E and radiant barrier Tech-Shield insulation designed to keep heat out. They are also highly effective at blocking the cell phone signal.
Most people don't even know that there is something that can be done about the low signal problem and CellTecks in the company with great proficiency in dealing with and correcting the problem for individuals and businesses alike. If you have problems with signal strength where you live or work, call Brent Holmes or visit his website. |

Ewe & Eye saves the day for Local Visitor
One day last week a
tourist rushed into the Chamber office, flustered and obviously in a big hurry.
"We're going to see our grandchildren and we need presents!" she said. "We
can't go empty handed and it has to be special!" We told her about Ewe & Eye,
the ecclectic shop at 512 River Road owned by Jimmy and Denise Mazal. The lady
practically flew out of our office and we thought we'd heard the last from her.
About an hour later, here
she comes, back to the Chamber. She had her arms full because she had done some
serious shopping. She was so excited about her purchases she felt she had to
come back to the Chamber to thank us for directing her to two of the cutest
puppets we've ever seen! This lady told us they looked much like ones she
played with when she was a child. Sweet memories.
The next time you need a
special treat for a child in your life, stop by Ewe & Eye and find a wide
variety of toys, gifts and needlework supplies.
