Dear Friends,

Yeshiva University's Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education along with the Association of Jewish Outreach Programs is conducting a study of adolescent adjustment in the Orthodox Jewish community.

There has been much discussion and concern in the observant community about the many challenges facing our youth. It is no doubt a very complex and multifaceted concern with no simple solutions and all evidence that we have to date is anecdotal in nature.

The focus of the study will be on adolescents growing up in families who are newly observant as well as adolescents born into families whose parents have been observant from birth. The survey, to be completed by parents who have adolescents between the ages of 11 and 19, should take approximately 30 minutes. It is completely confidential and anonymous. The researchers will not be able to trace the identity of participants in the study.

In our times of financial stress, rapid assimilation and attrition of the religious community from within, we need to focus our efforts and resources in the most effective way possible. A well conducted, scientific survey of our youth and families is one of the best tools to help us identify the problems affecting our youth.  It will help us to understand their mindset, and, therefore, help us to provide them with the best support possible.

Please complete the survey by December 22. The survey is to be completed by a parent, not the adolescent.

Thank you so much for your participation in the study which will help us better meet the mental health needs of adolescents in our community.

Header2Free Download of Sefer Mikadshei Shemecha on Making a Kiddush H-shem

Rabeinu Yona says that the Mitzvah of Kiddush Hashem serves as the mission of Klal Yisroel. All of Torah and Mitzvos were given to us solely for this purpose. This valuable Sefer explains in depth how Torah and Mitzvos create Kiddush Hashem in the world, as well as how a Jew lives and dies al Kiddush Hashem. With a better understanding of this mitzvah and its importance, the individual will acquire more sensitivity and sense of responsibility towards bringing honor to Hashem's name.

This Sefer is also very useful for Mechanchim, Rabbanim, and Kiruv professionals whether teaching it in a classroom setting or adding meaning to their own daily task of being Mekadesh Sheim Shamayim.
