FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

The period of April experienced more favourable weather than last year which has been a rarity this financial year. As a consequence trading activity improved around the Club and most Club departments outperformed expectations. Golf activity was a significant improver, more pleasing was the fact it was lead by golf members purchasing guest passes and showcasing their course. As transition moves forward and many of the major issues are resolved continued member support via membership referral and purchasing guest passes will be strongly encouraged to guarantee Sandhurst's success.

I am delighted to report that the Developer has confirmed commitment to rectify the constant flooding of the sales road which has regularly restricted access to the North Course. Depending on the works required and timeframes for completion a temporary solution may need to be employed for this winter to ensure minimal inconvenience. Also the Developer confirms the current works to the land between the 14 and 15 holes on the North Course are site clean-up works which have long been requested by the Golf Advisory Committee.

Annual subscriptions are due to be forwarded to members during June and I use this opportunity to remind all members to utilise the final balance of their house account credits. The Golf Shop, Health Club and Hospitality team are ready to assist you in providing maximum value or enjoyment from your final house account credit purchases. Members planning holidays during the subscription billing period and are eager to settled their account prior to departure to ensure entitlement to rebates and other benefits for prompt payment are encouraged to contact the Club's Reception so suitable arrangements can be made.

Keeping the Estate in a presentable state continues to be a hot topic as a result of its impact on the appeal of Sandhurst. All stakeholders have a crucial role to play in particular the Developer and Manager. However, this should not understate the residents role in contributing to this appeal by ensuring the maintenance of their property, adhering to rules for commercial vehicles and car parking; and having consideration for their neighbours. If residents are taking greater responsibility less emphasis is placed on compliance and this resource can be more effectively utilised elsewhere.

There has also been some confusion over the role of Security at Sandhurst. I wish to clarify that Club Security provides alarm monitoring of homes and constant patrolling of the Estate. It responds to alarms and other incidents, and then determines whether to elevate the incident to a more senior authority (Police, Emergency Services etc.). Finally they document the incidents for management to assist in future planning. It is not Club Security's role to engage in conflict or apprehend offenders this is clearly a role for the police.

Significant work is continuing with transition, the four working groups are now meeting regularly and consist of over 25 members. These groups are assisting the Nominee Directors to work through the transition issues with the goal of forming a recommendation. It is my expectation that members will hear in greater detail from the communications working group shortly.

Julian Murray General Manager

Rubbish Disposal Containers

One of the greatest attractions to joining the Sandhurst community is the appeal of its shared values. Care for the reflection Sandhurst portrays to the rest of society is one of these shared values. Maintaining the presentation of common areas throughout the Estate and of Residents properties is critical to achieving this positive perception. Attainment of this perception provides substantial benefits from intrinsic to financial value (property prices). However, this cannot be achieved individually and requires all Residents to ensure they're maintaining their properties to the highest of standards.

The Sandhurst Club Ltd Residential Code Restrictions on Occupation of a Lot Rule 6.5 refers to the screening of all rubbish disposal containers from public view at all times.

We have been allocated a small amount of the iconic wines, that are a joy to drink now and even more amazing to keep for the future. For those interested we will shortly be announcing how these wines will be offered for sale, but we will have a few incentives, including a lucky winner who will take home a stunning Vintec 30SG Wine Cabinet (Valued at $700), perfect to store your collection of new Grange, RWT or any other of the Penfolds Bin Range.

So keep your eyes open on the Penfolds display cabinet and website!

A bit about the wines

Penfolds Grange 2006 (6 bottles) is without doubt one of Australia's and the world's most famous wines. From humble beginnings in the 1950's, Grange has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over four decades and lead the charge of Australian wines onto the world market. Grange is an Australian icon and represents a tradition in winemaking that is totally uncompromising. Penfolds Grange is the benchmark against which all other Australian red wines are judged. To share a mature Grange, 15 to 20 years old in fine condition is one of the great wine experiences.

Penfolds Bin 707 2008 (6 bottles) continues to reinforce its reputation as the international benchmark for Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. Made from a multi-district blend, it transcends the vagaries of vintage, achieving a consistent style and outstanding quality each year.

Penfolds RWT Shiraz 2008 (6 bottles) The development of Penfolds Red Winemaking Trial (RWT) reflects extraordinary progress in viticulture and winemaking. The two disciplines are increasingly intertwined, as growers and winemakers work together in search of optimum balance, ripeness and flavour.

Penfolds St Henri 2007 (12 bottles). While Grange is now seen as the quintessential Australian wine, John Davoren's work with St. Henri is of equal importance. Indeed both these wines set new standards for their day with St. Henri establishing an elegant, perfumed style based on fruit definition and maturation in old oak.

Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2008 has earned a reputation among wine consumers and collectors as an Australian classic. With all its ripe fruit, richness and generosity, the wine has been much loved over several generations of wine drinkers.

Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon is a multi-district blend largely from the south east of South Australia - The wine was first released in 1993 with the superb 1990 vintage. The wine was developed by John Duval, PENFOLDS former Chief Winemaker, in response to the increasing availability of high quality Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.
