Farewell, My Term as Chair of the Board has Come to an End
by Gary Sherwin, Visit Newport Beach Inc.
CalTIA Chair of the Board 2009-10

Dear CalTIA Members:

Summertime is often the time of year to pause and reflect. Whether it is lounging on a beach or spending time with friends and family on those long and lazy afternoons, it is a great time to take stock as well as enjoy some of that legendary California sunshine.

So as I sip my lemonade on this clear summer day and enjoying for free what our visitors spend all year saving up to experience, here are my reflections on the CalTIA Fiscal Year which is just ending and along with it my term as chairman. Read more...

State of the Association, Welcome
by Ted Molter, San Diego Zoo & Wild Animal Park
Chair of the Board 2010-11

I joined CalTIA a decade ago to represent the San Diego Zoo because great brands are better when they are associated with other great brands.

Our membership is a gathering of many great brands and it is our job to bring others to the source and that source is CalTIA. We are the trusted network and it is our responsibility to reach out and help others deliver an exceptional California travel experience.

by Ross Hutchings, CAE
CalTIA Executive Director/CEO 2006-2010

CalTIA Ambassador Council Update
by Amy Blaschka, Tri-Valley, California CVB and
Scott Schneider, Visit Mendocino County
Co-Chairs, CalTIA Ambassador Council

The Ambassador program has concluded its 2nd successful year with over 30 (Amy - is this right?) members of the Council.  We are currently assessing the successes and challenges of the program to make room for improvements for the 2010-2011 year.  Our annual brainstorming and work session is coming up and we are very excited about the new direction CalTIA is moving with the new strategic plan and dynamic leadership.

On behalf of the Ambassadors, we look forward to the future and potential of CalTIA and welcome your involvement in the ever-expanding Ambassador Council program.

With 375 registrants, CalTIA's annual Conference on Tourism made its San Francisco debut June 7 - 9 with great success.
