Some of you may have heard about our new partnership with Compassion International. Why do we partner with Compassion? Christian Skaters partners with ministries in 90% of the locations where Compassion has projects. We have seen first hand what Compassion does in the lives of the children in these areas. Many of us dream about changing the world. For just a little over $1 a day we can make a lasting impact in the life of a child. We might not be able to change the world, but that small sacrifice will change a child's world. Join us and together we can make a difference.

Need Insurance? It's all over the news. Staggering health insurance rates keep most of us uninsured. But, if you are a skater, this could be a BIG problem. 2009 in Review
It's been a busy year here at Christian Skaters. We are truly thankful for every individual and ministry who partnered with and prayed for us in 2009. We have had teams travel all around the world and are humbled to see how the Lord is using something like Skateboarding.
Skate Missions have kicked off full-force and we look forward to many more in 2010. Plans are already in the works for Pakistan, Sweden, Uganda and Ecuador. Our heart is to begin to raise support for those out there doing full-time mission work. Skaters like Brian Sumner, David Reasbeck, BFC, Untitled, and others have devoted their lives to sharing the Gospel. It is our desire to raise awareness to how they are serving and their needs. We also want to get you involved. Some are called to go, some are called to pray and some are called to support. Pray about ways you might partner with us in 2010. Maybe you have unused air miles that you might be willing to donate to a mission. There are so many ways to get involved.
We hope to continue to equip and encourage those with a heart for skaters. 2010 plans include more resources for skate ministries and discipleship. The great commission tells us to "go and make DISCIPLES of all nations" and it is our heart to create resources to equip ministries to pour into skaters. Please pray that the Lord provides the resources and workers to make this a reality.
The 2009 Skate Conference was amazing and we look forward to 2010. We will again host our US Conference and have plans for Europe & Brazil. Our partner CS ministries in Africa, South Africa & the UK will also once again be hosting events.
Christian Skaters is on a mission to equip and encourage. We thank you for all you have done to be a part of how the Lord used this ministry in 2009. Countless skaters were impacted in over 90 countries around the globe. Praise the Lord!
Want to join the team making an impact in 2010? We are looking for skaters, ministry leaders, videographers, editors, and others who want to serve. If this is you, please feel free to email us at info@ChristianSkaters.com

REWIND: Innovative Evangelism Conference 2009
There are a few ministries that have come alongside Christian Skaters along the year to encourage and guide us. One of those ministries is the Luis Palau Association. In 2005, LPA, formed the Livin' It Alliance as part of it's Next Generation Alliance. LPA brought together ministries from BMX, motorcross, skate, surf, snowboarding, and wakeboarding with the vision to form an alliance of ministries. Similar to the focus of Christian Skaters within skate, the Livin' It Alliance began to create unity among all of the Action Sports ministries. This month Livin' It Alliance joined the Creative Arts Alliance and evangelists from all around the world for an event in Portland with speakers like Luis Palau, Mile McPherson, Andrew Palau & Dinesh D'Souza.
Christian Skaters was blessed to host a workshop on skateboarding in the 10/40 window. We joined Untitled riders Jud Heald & Tom Geilfuss for skate sessions at The Department of Skateboarding & Burnside. And, were able to catch up with Mario from D2LRevelution.net, The crew from Skatechurch, Vic & Joh n from Action Sports Outreach, Tim Bryne, Walking on Water, Nations Foundation and many others. It is always great to hang out with these ministries.... Read more »

GO: Ecuador Skateboard Outreach and Work Team
Join Touch the World Ministries and our friends at Solid Foundation in New Jersey for a Skate Mission to Ecuador July 13-18, 2010. Your Mission: Make
the Quito, Ecuador skatepark skate-able again! Encourage and build up
this skate scene both physically and spiritually. Once the construction
projects are finished, your team will host a skate contest for the
locals. Share what God has done in your life with each new friend you
make. Start saving up your used [but in good shape] decks, trucks,
wheels, shoes, etc. Bless the locals with some "new" gear! In Quito,
many kids share boards and shoes - if they even wear shoes at all! Your
simple gift can make a great impact on the lives of young skaters in
Ecuador. Interested in joining the team? Cost is $1050 plus airfare and you must be at least 16 years old.

Boarders for Christ trip to Egypt
BFC just returned from Egypt and the Lord used the team in incredible ways. He also used the trip to greatly impact those who were part of the team. Wes Luke said, "The Lord has broken my heart for egypt and it has a special place in my
heart. I feel that I was meant to be a missionary and serve like we
have in egypt. I am home with fewer worries because God has shown me
how blessed I am here
in America. I realized everything I have is Gods so I must trust him
and be willing to give it up. It truelly is a blessing to serve and a
blessing to be called a child of God. He gives us grace to allow us to
be used by him when because of our sin we deserve death. God bless!
keep seeking Jesus and be bold in your faith."

Skate in NYC
I Roll NY has been hit with some more exclusive photos of the Pier 62
skate park that's rumored to be a free public park after completion.
More photos on the park development, including an even closer look
inside the terrain will be up soon. The park is of course located in
Manhattan, NY. The park may be mistaken as the Chelsea Piers skate park
due to the location, but the Hudson River is city property that Chelsea
leases and they gave back that particular pier which means, city owned
and funded or free as it should be. Thanks to Ado for the information.
Ray Barbee Vault Ray Barbee is celebrating 20 years of his skateboarding career. In honor of this, Vans
is re-issuing Ray Barbee's Chukka, Era, & Old Skool. Each shoe has
been re-produced with the correct artwork, construction, materials,
colorways, and packaging. The Vans Ray Barbee collection is available
at most Vans Vault retailers.

Public Skatepark Development GuideHundreds of new skateparks are being built every year. It is a boom
era for public skateboarding facilities. However, no public skatepark
has ever been built without a group of dedicated advocates promoting
the project. This new book encourages and guides people through the
skatepark process.
Skatepark advocacy is usually a lonely
effort. Groups have been isolated in their activity and were required
to research the most effective ways to build support for their project.
The non-profit organization, Skaters for Public Skateparks
(SPS), was founded in 2004 to address the need for accessible skatepark
advocacy information and now reaches thousands of advocates across the
world. Until the creation of SPS, precious few resources existed to
support the cause. Now a single, comprehensive book guides the advocate
from the early stages of envisioning, through planning and development,
all the way to managing the open facility.
The Public Skatepark Development Guide
is the world's first comprehensive instructional manual on skatepark
advancement and is a publishing collaboration between the International
Association of Skateboard Companies, Tony Hawk Foundation, and SPS. The
Guide presents the collected wisdom of dozens of the nation's most
effective skatepark proponents and expertly discusses every stage of
skatepark creation.
