skateboarding's finest vert skaters, Christian Hosoi. Previous winners
of this prestigious award have included Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, and

MISSION TO WHERE?
This summer Christian Skaters will be heading around the globe.
 South Africa? This June, our ministry partners in South Africa, Son Skate, will be hosting their 2nd annual Skate Conference. Pray that they may be encouraged in their ministries.
 Liberia? 13 years of civil war in Liberia did incredible damage to the country.
It killed people, destroyed villages, and also destroyed
infrastructure. This will be the trip of a lifetime as they head to encourage the 10+ churches planted in this area of Africa. The team will walk 60 miles total and pour into those ministering in areas deviated by wars. Please pray for this mission, June 15-30. Liberia is not heavily traveled due to the destruction & dangerous conditions. We thank all of you who helped to make this trip possible.
 Rwanda? Still recovering from the 1994 genocide that killed an estimated 1
million people in 100 days, more than 350 churches in Rwanda's capital
city invited Andrew Palau to bring his message of hope and Good News
where the need is great. Andrew Palau is traveling to Rwanda and Christian Skaters will be serving alongside the team in the skate/bmx areas. Pray that the Lord begins preparing the people of Rwanda to recieve the gospel.
 United Kingdom? In August, CS is heading to the UK for Creationfest. This FREE 7 day festival will feature skate, music, sports, teachings and more. Help us bring a revival to the UK. We still need to raise $3,000 to cover expenses. If you are able to partner with us on this, a donation of $5 or more will help us get closer to the goal.  Guatemala? At the end of August, we'll be sending a team to Coban to build ramps that will used to reach the youth all over Guatemala. The ramps are being built for In His Steps International. All the money for the ramps has been raised and they are on their way on a ship as I write this. However, we still need to raise funds to bring two of our builders over. Do you have extra frequent flyer miles? Consider donating them to bring our builders to Coban.

Coming Soon...Skate Bible DVD
 Cab & Sumner and others are working on a new DVD. Skatebible.com is being revamped and
is in the process of making a full on ministry video. Hopefully, and be
praying, it will be finished in the next few months. Goal is for kids
in youth ministry to have a relevant way to reach the skate generation.

Vans Book Signings
 It's been talked about for many years and now it's finally come to
life! On June 1, Vans released its first-ever book, Vans: Off the
Wall, featuring 20-some-odd stories that collectively tell the story of
the brand: from Rowley to Warped Tour, from Customs to Joel Tudor, from
Alva and Cab to artist collabs. To celebrate the launch, Vans will be
hosting book signings with skate legends Steve Caballero and Tony Alva
and Vans namesake Steve Van Doren at Vans stores in Washington D.C.,
Houston and Dallas, as well as at powerHouse Arena in Brooklyn.

The Future of Skateboarding: Bucky's Backyard?
 In 1976 California experienced a drought that left swimming pools empty
throughout the state. As many people know the empty pools turned into
skate playgrounds and helped shape the sport into what it is today.
Pools sparked the vert trend in skateboarding and made headway for
greats such as Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, and Bucky Lasek. With the
evolution of skateboarding, pool riding has seemed to become something

X Games Invites Legends in Skate
 In an anniversary year for X Games, ESPN will celebrate with 200
athletes. The 15th annual action sports competition will be held in
Los Angeles July 30 - Aug. 2, 2009, and will feature the world's best
athletes competing in: BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard and Rally Car

NEW Skate Ministry Discipleship Course Released
 Switch is a 12 session course designed in the UK to introduce skateboarders to
the Christian faith. It is split into eleven one hour sessions with a
weekend away.
The course will enable the skaters you work with to explore the
Christian faith in a relevant way, give you the space to build solid

GET INVOLVED: Opportunities to serve in Skate Ministry
 Street Team...Help spread the word about Christian Skaters. Volunteers are needed to spread the word online and at events throughout the world. If you believe in our mission and want to serve, let us know.
 Intern...Want some hands-on experience in Skate Ministry? Join us at our hometown park, participate in our Skater's Bible Study, serve at our Free Saturday morning Skate lessons, get tips and see if skate ministry is for you. Motivated interns with a heart to serve are wanted.
Want to serve the Lord full time in Skate Ministry? Christian Skaters is putting together a Skate Ministry Discipleship program. You will spend four months in life changing discipleship, then serve two months at our skatepark ministry. You will leave changed, equipped and ready to serve the Lord.
