is on a mission to change the world. How? Well, we have a vision of a
skate ministry within skating distance of every skater around the
world. This is a tall order, but we know that the God we are called to
serve can do anything. Did you know? Childhood
obesity rates have risen dramatically over the past 30 years. According
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 19 percent of
young people aged 6-11 years are obese, while more than 17 percent of
12 to 19 year olds are.The CDC estimates that the total cost of obesity in the United States
in the year 2000 was $117 billion. While some cases of obesity may be
caused by genetics or other factors, most are the result of modifiable
behaviors such as overeating, a sedentary lifestyle and lack of

Lance Mountain

There are those skaters who you looked up to as a kid. I remember watching Cab, Ray Barbee & Lance. Funny how the Lord has begun to place each of these guys in our lives.
Recently we were able to go to church and hang with Lance at his home. What impressed me most was his humbleness. He is just such a nice guy. The highlight of the visit was checking out his garage stuffed with amazing art. I could of hung out in there for days. But, Uli was drawn to the amazing bowl that will be featured in the next Flip video. So, I joined him to watch the skate session.
At the end of the day, we left with a new brother in Christ that we are blessed to now call our friend and one amazing piece of art from Lance that now hangs on our living room wall. (It's the first official art purchase our family has made.)We are stoked!

We encourage you to stop by Calvary Chapel South LA's new skate park ministry.
If you are not in the LA area, please pray for this ministry. We had a chance to spend some time with these guys last September and are so excited to see how the Lord is opening doors. Here is an update and some background from Edwin about the new skate ministry:
"First to give you a little background into the Park we have chosen the name 39+ based on IS 53:5. Because we know that he is the only true healing in life. A healing we want to bring to this community. A community that has been battered, taken advantage of, and sometimes forgotten. Its easy for some people to forget that slums and ghetto's don't just exist in 3rd world countries but they exist all over our country. South Central Los Angeles has historically been known as this, its historical statement were the start of two riots, and its biggest export to the world were the Crips and the Bloods. But in this community the Lord has his faithful sharing his love with everyone around. Reminding the community that he is still alive and no matter what happens he Reigns. But with in this community of outcasts there are those that are still considered outcasts. Those that don't fit in with the Gang life, those who don't associate with their parents home land, those who are harassed by the police, and whom our schools sometimes have been given up on. They are beaten up by gangs and harassed by drug dealers at the local city skate park. They are the ones who just don't fit in. These are the kids we want to reach out to. Those jaded by our society and many times not accepted because they dress weird, they are smelly, and they just won't listen. The outcast of the forgotten, these are the ones we feel the Lord has called us to LOVE. The Lord has blessed us with ramps and parts of ramps, he has blessed us with musicians, and he has blessed us with Artists, all of these to be able to say God loves you, and we love you. But after they are gone we will be left to Love them, and Lord willing be able to give them a place where they want to be. We want to pour out the love of God to the skaters that not by choice have to live in our community. We want to give them His word, and build disciples. We want to help them develop the Gifts the Lord has given them. We want to build more than good citizens, we want them to understand that they were created as individuals, special, and with a purpose by a God that LOVES them. But we need help as a small inner-city ministry we trust in the Lord's provision to keep the doors open. We are an all volunteer staff pouring out the love that was poured into us. We know that these kids are all capable of love, capable of learning, and capable of living. We know this, because as many gave up on many of us we know that as the prodigal son when we came home our Father accepted us with open arms. After extending those arms and paying the price for us. Our annual operational budget is estimated at $12,000 and we need about $1200 to finish construction on the equipment we currently have. We still don't have helmets for those kids that cant afford their own, but we know that somehow our Lord will provide. Beyond just keeping the doors open we hope to be able to continue to expand not just as a skate park, but as an after school location with additional programs, such as tutoring, music lessons, and art lessons. We want to give every avenue of expression in the Lord's name to these kids. We want to build disciples that will then grow into the Lord's servants.

SKATE CAMP IN SWEDEN
 Chad Tim Tim, little Zion & Uli are heading to Sweden! They will be heading up a skate camp May 21-24th.
We ask that you keep this trip in your prayers. Uli will be shooting video so we can share the amazing things the Lord does on this trip.
Pray for little Zion to be bold and share his faith as most 8 year olds don't skate in Sweden. May the Lord keep them safe and use them mightily.
BUILDING RAMPS IN GUATEMALA
 The Guatemala ministry leaders are visiting the US and the Lord has provided the money for the ramp materials. The ramps will be pre-cut and pre-drilled in South Florida, packed in crates, then shipped by boat to Guatemala. The team will then fly there to assemble the ramps. We ask that you join us in praying
for the Lord to open doors to ship the ramps over and for provision for
the flights of the team heading over to train the leaders and install
the ramps. Visit Ramp 48 in Fort Lauderdale, Tuesday April 14th or Sunday, April 19th @ The Park in Melbourne to hear more about the vision and the trip. If you have a heart to contribute to this mission, email us or donate online.
SKATE INDIA
 We recently met a guy working with kids in India. He works with kids that pick trash and are mostly homeless, living on the streets. Besides their eagerness to learn how to read and write in their own language and in English, he has been teaching them how to skateboard. They are wild about it! "I would love to get into all the needs they have..., but the main thing I want prayer for is that each of them would come to know Him in a very real and true way." Join us in praying for these skaters in India!

 VANS Orlando Day Trip
Do you live in South Florida? Then join us for a trip to Vans Orlando, Monday April 6th. We will pack 50 skaters on a bus to Vans, skate the entire day, then be back by 10pm. Cost is $80 and you can sign up at Ramp48, Island Water Sports or Surf World.

GET INVOLVED: Opportunities to serve in Skate Ministry
 Street Team...Help spread the word about Christian Skaters. Volunteers are needed to spread the word online and at events throughout the world. If you believe in our mission and want to serve, let us know.
 Intern...Want some hands-on experience in Skate Ministry? Join us at our hometown park, participate in our Skater's Bible Study, serve at our Free Saturday morning Skate lessons, get tips and see if skate ministry is for you. Motivated interns with a heart to serve are wanted.
Want to serve the Lord full time in Skate Ministry? Christian Skaters is putting together a Skate Ministry Discipleship program. You will spend four months in life changing discipleship, then serve two months at our skatepark ministry. You will leave changed, equipped and ready to serve the Lord. Our campus offers a Bible College & School of Worship where you can grow while serving at our skate ministry. To find out more, email us today.
 Serve as a Skate missionary
in the UK, Sweden, or Guatemala. Christian Skaters is looking for
dedicated skaters who love the Lord to serve as missionaries in various
skate ministries. Long and short term opportunities available.
Join Skate Church in Redwood for their 6th annual Mexico Missions Trip to San Luis Rio Colorado. This year our outreach includes nightly skateboarding outreaches, skateboarding & bible lessons for children, and remodeling the home of a needy family. Currently they are also raising funds for this remodeling project. I would like to give you the opportunity to be a part of making it a reality. $2 pays for a 2''x4'', $12 pays for a sheet of plywood, $14 pays for a sheet of drywall, and $50 pays for a sheet of corrugated steel roofing. Prayer needs for our trip: Pray that God uses this trip to transform the hearts of the students who come on the trip.
