BIBLE BASICS: The Flood
|
 Here are some fascinating facts related to the flood:
- Many of the ancient flood stories told around the world in various religions include a leader with a name strangely similar to the one used in the Bible...Noah. Among them are: Noh, Nu, Nau, Nuh, Manu ("ma" means water, "nu" means Noah), etc.
- The Chinese word for "boat" is a combination of three ancient symbols: "vessel", "eight", and "mouth"...which tells the story of eight people saved by a boat.
- The Timaeus of Plato written c. 360 BC, refers to the "great deluge of all".
- The summit of Mount Everest is composed of deep-marine limestone, with fossils of ocean-bottom dwelling crinoids...at 29,035 feet above sea level.
- Geologists studying the deadly eruption of Mount St Helens in Washington State on May 18, 1980, were amazed at how quickly the powerful lava flows carved through solid rock and laid down hundreds of feet of new rock. In only a matter of hours, the massive eruption created a canyon some 1/40th the scale of the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

PRAY FOR: Christian Surfers
|
 Since the late 1970's Christian Surfers has been reaching out to
surfers. Christian Surfers International was born in 1999 when
Christian Surfer groups from a number of countries joined together as
an international movement. "Who do you surf for?" is the line I always get at the end of the US Monday Morning Devos. If you are someone who surfs for Christ, I urge you to get involved with this amazing organization. They have truly been an inspiration behind our vision at Christian Skaters. We are grateful for the ministry they have started and are blessed to call them friends. Please think of this ministry in your prayers this week. |

LEARN: Wheelbase vs. Deck Width
|
 According to Professor Paul Schmidt, owner of PS Stixs and Founder of the Create-A-Skate program, many of us have been choosing our boards all wrong. How often do you pick your board by width? Paul tells us that it is wheelbase that makes all the difference.
Wheelbase is simply the distance between the center truck holes of your board. The length of your wheelbase should be determined by your height. The taller you are the longer your wheelbase should be. According to Paul, a simply wheelbase adjust will greatly impact the way you skate.

 INTERNS WANTED: Short term summer mission are available to those wanting to intern with Christian Skaters this summer. Interns will help in the Christian Skater's Office and get hands-on training at our local park, Ramp 48. Interns will stay in Fort Lauderdale on a week long mission to change lives. Interested?
