BIBLE BASICS: God's Promises
|
 A command from God is something man should do; a
promise from God is
something God will do. A command must be obeyed; a promise must be believed. When God gives
a command He says, "YOU WILL" ("THOU SHALT" -- see Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew
4:7,10); when God gives a promise He says, "I WILL" (see Exodus 6:6-8).
Many times people break their promises and they must take full blame for it. Maybe
they forgot, maybe they changed their mind or maybe they just failed to do what they
said they would do. Sometimes people break their promises because of circumstances and
situations beyond their control (bad weather, a flat tire on the road, sickness, etc.).
Men may break their promises, but there is One Person who never breaks His promises. A
man may not keep his word but there is One who always keeps His Word...a
faithful, promise-keeping God in heaven! |

GET INVOLVED: Calvary Skatepark, Albuquerque
|
 Walk on Calvary Chapel Albuquerque campus and one of the first things you notice is this amazing concrete park. How many churches have a company like Site Design Group come in to build a park? None that I know of. Where else can you skate while listening to one of the best radio stations, M88, broadcasting from right outside the park? Again, none!

| PRAY & PARTNER: Africa 
Uli, our co-founder & international director, has been asked to head over to Durban, South Africa next month to speak and encourage ministries all over the continent of Africa. They will meet up with representatives from Uganda & Nairobi to encourage these ministries; drop off Bibles, skateboards, shoes, etc.; and, build relationships.
Will you consider partnering with us in this mission?
UGANDA... Uganda Skateboarder's Union's mission is to bring health, entertainment and sporty camaraderie to the poverty stricken children of Uganda. Ugandan Jackson Mubiru and South African Shael Swart are shredders who with a little help of their friends, founded the USkU
and set out to build Uganda's first skate park in Kitintale, a working
class suburb of Kampala with extremely limited resources. How limited? Not only have they built the park by hand,
but when they created the first mini-ramp of the skate park, they had
only 2 skateboards (both donated) to share among all the future
shredders. They were skating with bare feet and using banana leaves tied around their knees and elbows for pads. Two years later, a generous donation from Tony Hawk's Foundation has given the kids much needed gear, boards and equipment. We plan on dropping off a few more decks to help them. About 50% of the youth who come to this park are Muslim and the other 50% are Christian. Our mission will be to establish a relationship and be a bright light. We hope to continue this relationship and establish a Christian Skaters in Uganda.
NAIROBI...Edwin is a skater from Nairobi with a heart to share the love of Christ with the youth. Nairobi had a hard year in 2007 and one of the skaters there lost his entire family to the civil war that broke out after an election was rigged. Edwin has a heart to spend time with these kids, teach them to skate and at the same time share with them a God that loves them so greatly that He would send His only son to die for them. We hope to bring supplies so this local can reach the youth and meet them where they are and pour into them with Christ's love. PLEASE, consider partnering with us.

Christian Skaters was formed in 2005 as the Lord led us to meet a need to equip
the many who are called to share the gospel with skaters around the
world. Our mission is to seek, support, equip, encourage, pray for and promote
skate ministries around the world. Ephesians 4:16 encourages us to work
together as a body. The Lord gave Christian Skaters a vision of
creating a body of skate ministries better equipped to fulfill the
Great Commission.
The
Lord continues to grow our ministry. We feel it is one of our
top priorities to encourage those who are out there on the "mission
field" consistently pouring into the lives of skaters and being "bright
lights" (Matthew 5:16) in skate.
We feel called to first
LOVE on these skaters as Christ would, then win them over by our
example of Christ in our lives or the lives of the local leaders, then pour into them with the Truth of His Word.
