We've all seen skateparks come and go. Let's face it, you won't get rich running a skatepark. Thank God, that so many churches have picked up the slack.

Since making money is no longer the focus, skate ministries can offer a place for kids to skate and a place for them to be feed. But, running a park isn't possible without faithful volunteers.

So, this month, let's talk about recruiting volunteers....Jesus recruited a core of committed volunteers who recruited others who recruited others. So, how can we recruit like Jesus?

1. In order for us to recruit faithful volunteers, we must first look at our hearts. What does this ministry mean to you? How committed to it are you? JESUS HAD THE ULTIMATE COMMITMENT.
   
2. Great leaders can cast a vision. How good are you at communicating the vision for your ministry. Share stories of lives changed through the ministry. JESUS WAS A GREAT COMMUNICATOR.
3. Jesus' disciples learned from him. He equipped them to become leaders even after He was gone. We need to do the same with our volunteers. Even if we have no plans in leaving, like Jesus, we need to raise up future leaders who can continue even after we are gone.
4. JESUS WAS CLEAR ABOUT WHAT WAS EXPECTED. Too often we are shy on setting requirements to serve (Matthew 19). We aren't asking them to sell everything, but we must learn from Jesus to be clear with what is expected.
5. Don't sugar coat the job. Jesus pointed out the ups and downs. He warned His disciples of how the world would react to them. It is important to be realistic of situations volunteers might come up against. Express challenges, but instill in them that obstacles are opportunities for ministry.
