ABOUT US

My Sister My Friend Breast Cancer Support does not seek to identify itself as mere support group. But as a Breast Cancer organization that provides an array of supportive services to include: support group meetings (psycho-social and emotional support), resource referrals, financial assistance, co-pays, transportation, social services support, case management, educational outreach to survivors and lay populations, diagnostic screening navigation, field trips and outings for survivors, caregivers and their families.

We See You Kommah Seray!
kommah Seray

During the month of October this organization hosted various events relative to breast cancer awareness, support and fundraising to make it happen. They did this by partnering with several entities throughout their community (Pomona and the surrounding areas). That's what we are talking about. Dynamite! We see your labor of love and the work your hands. Thanks Kommah Seray Inflammatory Breast Cancer for doing all that you do. Check it out. Visit their website:  www.ksibcf.org

Are You An Advocate?
Advocacy might have various meanings to the breast cancer survivor. One, personal as the patient in need of services and or care. While the other may take on a broader scope, relative to advocating for policy to affect social change that inadvertently affects one or more areas of impact  for their classification of race, ethnicity,  class and or social status. We acknowledge that social change and policy directly influence access to care and the quality thereof.
What Does All This Mean?
Both forms are necessary and we need your help. There is a current measure on the ballot that needs your immediate attention  Read on
Sassy Survivor Support Group

Congrats to Deborrah Carter founder of Sassy Survivor  While the newly form group's mission statement is somewhat unclear, the organization is identified as the Sassy Survivor Foundation.  Although, the organization does not yet yield a non-profit 501(c)3 status it is definitely up and running, and  an apparent peer led group. The current meeting location is Deborrah's home in Diamond Bar, California. Meetings are held  starting November 12, 2011. The group is one of three African American groups in the neighboring Inland Empire, Los Angeles County area. The others are: Kommah Seray IBCF and The Cancer Support Community hosted by Lista Mitchel. Its amazing what a few photo opportunities and a godaddy website template can do for the alter ego. Welcome to the support community. Now the work begins.

For more information on the group please visit their website.
