neil gives BBC Radio Scotland hillwalking advice

As the local walking expert Neil was called in by BBC Radio Scotland this morning to give hillwalking hints and tips on the MacAuley & Co programme. Ruth Davidson, a BBC Broadcaster, had become "navigationally challenged" whilst walking in the Scottish hills last weekend and Neil was happy to gives some hints and tips on staying safe in the hills to Ruth, Fred and Radio Scotland listeners.

Most importantly when in the hills it is crucial that you check the weather forecast and plan your route according to your groups fitness, experience, local knowledge and the weather conditions. It is also important that you have suitable warm and weatherproof clothes, pack emergency equipment and carry a map and compass (and know how to use them).
