May 11, 2011
Greetings!

The SeaSquared spent the week fishing for tarpon, dolphin, snapper and grouper.

Don and Mona McKinnon landed four tarpon from 70 to 130 pounds, while David and Rita Wilcher landed two of similar size.

Honeymooners Nick and Tiffany Mills brought dolphin and amberjack back to the dock.

On separate outings, the Curcio group, the Porven family and the Jarvis crew brought in loads of yellowtail, mangrove and mutton snapper, black grouper and cero mackerel.

Until next week ... tight lines!

Our new Garman GPS Chartplotter

Those of you who own boats know there's always some piece of equipment to repair, replace, upgrade or add.

We have just upgraded our GPS chartplotter with a brand new Garman GPSMAP 541.  This compact chartplotter features an ultra-bright 5" QVGA color display along with an improved high-speed digital design for increased map drawing and panning speeds.

The chartplotter was expertly installed by Marathon-based Seamark Electronics.  Their staff downloaded all my GPS numbers from my old machine and uploaded them to the new one.  Their technicians took out the old machine, did some rewiring and had the new one installed and ready to go in about two hours!

Coming next ... new seat cushions and combing pads!
Tagging cobia for research

Many of you who have caught cobia with us have experienced tagging them as part of the Gulf Coast Research Lab's ongoing migration study.

SeaSquared Charters has participated in this research for a few years, and we have tagged nearly 100 fish.
