Greetings!
The SeaSquared hosted groups from Florida to Alaska last week.
A trip 50 miles out to the far Gulf produced a bounty of permit (all released) and a lot of memories for a group of anglers hailing from coast to coast.
Two groups tested their strength and stamina catching and releasing sharks on light tackle.
Chris Corley, from Saraland AL, caught dolphin on a weed line we found in 650 feet of water. He also caught and released amberjack while deep dropping.
We did a fun tarpon trip Monday night with Jason Bell and Johnny Maddox on the boat. Johnny was the first to hook one, which he fought for about an hour. When it surfaced, we saw it was a healthy 100-pounder.
Until next week ... tight lines!

Deepwater Horizon one year later |
Waters in the northern Gulf of Mexico blackened with the oil spilled from the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster one year ago today, but no trace of the BP oil has been found in Florida Keys waters.
"All the sampling done of tar balls and oil found here all came back negative as far as being BP oil," said Sean Morton, superintendent of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. "All the information we have now indicates no BP oil got down here." Read the full story |
