Management Development: Building Bench Strength

By: Chip Nagle

At the beginning of a new assignment, many of our clients express concern over a lack of internal "bench strength" in a particular area or throughout their organization.  One charge is to look for leadership ability in potential candidates; another is a demonstrated ability to "raise the bar" by further developing internal resources.  For a variety of reasons, organizations are focusing less on human resource development than previously when, in fact, it holds the key to achieving competitive advantage.

Employment Lite: One Option for Integration and Alignment

Integration.....alignment....words that are a part of the everyday healthcare jargon-but what is the best way to achieve the goals of physicians and hospitals in this challenged industry? The words integration and alignment have become part of the every-day healthcare vernacular recently, particularly as consolidation becomes more prevalent. While there are a number of ways to define these terms, within this paper we use them synonymously to refer to any relationship between physicians and health systems.
