 FAQ's from Customers
A7853A A question we recently received was from a customer doing maintenance on a RegO Flowmatic valve on their bobtail:

"I am replacing the A7853A 3-way quick acting valve to my RegO Flowmatic on my bobtail and do not know which lines go to the three ports, two are labeled IN & OUT; which ports go where?"

RegO provides a diagram and specific installation instructions for each port.  In this article I will provide a copy of those diagrams for your use.

A RegO Flowmatic valve is fully automatic, opening and closing as the pump is turned on or off.  The piston type Flomatic® Internal Valves are normally closed and use pressure differential to provide completely automatic service.  Mounted directly between the tank body and pump, the Flomatic® uses the pressure differential developed by the pump to open the valve and it closes automatically when the differential no longer exists.  It takes about 20 psig differential to open the valve
and about 8 psig to hold it open.  This means the RegO® Flomatic® opens when the pump is on and closes when the pump is shut off - fully automatic; when the quick-acting three-way valve (A7583A) is in the open position.  Flowmatic 3 wayThe quick-acting three-way valve allows the operator to close the Flowmatic internal valve without shutting off the pump.  This is done by actuating it to the closed position.  When this is done the three-way valve re-directs the differential pressure going from the pump discharge to the Flowmatic valve; to the pump suction port, thus causing the pump suction to pull the Flowmatic closed, as during a "creep test".

The A7853A valve has 3 ports that are labeled with IN, OUT, and the center port is not labeled.  The IN port should be connected to the pump discharge connection and the OUT port should be connected to the Flowmatic valve connection.  The center third port is connected to the pump suction connection.
