This update gives you the latest developments on our 2011 Employment Expo, happening Thursday, May 19, 2011 as well as other upcoming events. Don't miss our Important Dates section.  2011 Employment Expo

Revolving around a vibrant Career Fair, the Employment Expo will be a celebration of employment and career opportunities for people with disabilities in our community.

 

On Thursday, May 19, 2011 don't miss the Ability Axis - Employment Expo being held at the Victoria Inn, 1808 Wellington Ave, Winnipeg, MB.

 

Start the day off right with the Employer Breakfast (from 8:00 AM to 10:00), featuring Keynote Speaker, Randy Lewis from Walgreens.

 

The Exhibits will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

 

Don't miss Taking Pride in That Which Sets Us Apart by Shayn Anderson at 11:00 AM and again at 3:00 PM.

 

Denise Bissonnette will present Creating an Inclusive Workplace: Putting the Dream of Diversity into Practice at 1:00 PM.

Mar 18, 2011: MSEN Meeting from 10 am to 12 noon at Community Living MB, 6-120 Maryland St. Planned discussion about the surveys on benefits/ pensions and MEEPA employment challenge.

 

Mar 23 - 24, 2011: National Mental Health Conference 2011, in Winnipeg, MB. If you are in the mental health field or interested in learning more about challenges and solutions in mental health, you won't want to miss this Conference! Some pre-Conference Workshops available Mar 22, 2011.

 

Apr 13 - 14, 2011: Disabilities Issues in Northern and Rural Manitoba featuring a number of keynote and breakout sessions covering a wide range of topics related to the challenges and perspective of people with disabilities, their families and caregivers, service providers and more. Apr 14, 2011: The next meeting of the Winnipeg Organization of Recruitment Coordinators will be held Thursday April 14, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Winnipeg Technical College, Henlow Campus.

 

May 11 - 12, 2011: The 4th Annual Treaty Seven Disability Employment Symposium, at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino, Calgary, AB. The 4th Annual Disability Employment Symposium will once again bring together First Nations people with disabilities, the business community, employment centres, service providers, and other stakeholders to engage and "share perspectives."

May 26 - 28, 2011: Six Steps to Success Conference "Where Disability Works" in Whitehorse, Yukon. Bringing together employers, government agencies, service providers and distinguished experts in the field of disability and employment to share & explore best practices. Registration is now open!

 

May 29 - Jun 4, 2011: Manitoba Access Awareness Week
 

Jun 7 - 9, 2011: Conference - Canadian Association for Supported Employment, Halifax, Nova Scotia. This conference will bring together service providers, advocates and educators to share tools, resources and innovative practices in supported employment.
