INDUSTRY NEWS - Change in Fuel Taxes

EFFECTIVE JULY 1st

CALIFORNIA

CA diesel excise will be .13, down from the current rate of .18
CA gas excise will be .357, up from the current rate of .353
CA prepaid diesel will be .25, up from the current rate of .18
CA prepaid gas: no change
CA sales tax for all items other than gas and diesel will drop to 7.25% plus applicable district taxes; current rate is 8.25%
Sales tax on CA diesel will increase to 9.12% plus applicable district taxes. This rate includes the state rate of 7.25 plus diesel sales tax of 1.87.
Farmer's partial sales tax refund rate will be 5.25%, down from the current 6.25%
CA sales tax on gas: no change

NEVADA:

Washoe county diesel rate will be .090031, up from .061022

Washoe county gas rate will be .221368, up from .190846

SWEET VICTORY FOR RETAILERS!

SWIPE REFORM

DELAY DEFEATED!

Massive lobbying efforts by the banks to delay the swipe fee reform by at least 6 months, was defeated in the Senate. However, the battle continues as the banking industry is expected to launch a legal challenge if there are no significant changes to the Feds proposal of capping debit card transactions at 12 cents. The Federal Reserve is expected to issue final rules on interchange fees June 29th.
