Tapestry 2011 Proceeds Surpass Previous Years!
Tapestry: A Day for You celebrated its 10th annual event Friday, April 29, 2011, with inspirational women, an iconic star, and the raising of unprecedented scholarship funds. The day started with Dorian Maples and the late Bette Harris, two extraordinary women, who were recognized as female role models in our community. Strolling through the 138 artisan boutique and sponsor booths was next on the agenda for the nearly 1,200 Tapestry guests. Then, guests dispersed to the 13 educational breakout sessions. The luncheon program was highlighted by the inspirational stories of six IPFW College of Health and Human Services students who were awarded a record-breaking total of $38,500 in scholarship funds. And, finally, Molly Ringwald entertained the audience with her thoughts on "Pretty is a State of Mind: Empowering Women to be Their Best True Selves."
The result was that $78,000 was raised for women's scholarships--the highest in Tapestry's 10-year history. Half of those funds will go into the Tapestry Parkview Endowment and the other half will be available to award as scholarships at the next Tapestry:A Day for You, Friday, April 27, 2012. Since the scholarships were introduced in 2002, nearly $450,000 has been raised and 30 IPFW students have been awarded scholarships.
Thank you for being so instrumental in this great success. Your strong support will impact the lives of the scholarship recipients at Tapestry 2012, when up to $39,000 in scholarships will be awarded. Please mark your calendar for the next Tapestry:A Day for You Friday, April 27, 2012.
This month I changed positions at IPFW to become a project manager focused on IPFW's 50th anniversary celebrations. I am happy to share that Kathleen Jackson, who assisted me this year, has taken over as Tapestry project manager. She is very capable and will continue Tapestry's legacy of success into its next decade. She can be reached at jacksonk@ipfw.edu or 260-481-6854. It has been a pleasure getting to know all of you and I hope to see you at Tapestry 2012-I'll be a guest too!
Warmly,
Ruth Stone Tapestry Project Manager 2009-11 tapestry@ipfw.edu

Who Should It Be?
Tapestry has been fortunate to have had an outstanding keynote speaker each of its 10 years: Molly Ringwald, Sandra Lee, Clinton Kelly, Marie Osmond, Patty Duke, Linda Ellerbee, Dana Reeve, Dyan Canon, Marlo Thomas, and Erin Brokovich. Who should it be for 2012? Send your ideas to tapestry@ipfw.edu.
