Who Loves Chocolate Cake?
Chocolate is one of my weaknesses. I doubt I am alone. Every time I bake this cake, chocolate lovers smile. Maybe this can be your new Thanksgiving tradition. Try it. Let me know how you like it on our Facebook page.
Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake
2 cups sour cream 2 eggs ½ cup Kahlua 1 (2-layer) package devil's food cake mix 1 (4-ounce) package chocolate pudding mix ¼ cup vegetable oil 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips Confectioners sugar for sprinkling
Combine the sour cream, eggs, Kahlua, cake mix, pudding mix and oil in a large mixing bowl and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips. Pour into a lightly greased bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool in the pan. Invert onto a serving plate and sprinkle with the confectioners sugar and enjoy! Greetings!
I am so excited to welcome you to the inaugural Tapestry newsletter where, throughout the year, I will share tidbits of Tapestry: A Day for You. I know you are starved for time and get a lot of e-mails; I do too. That is why I promise to keep this short, yet informative and fun. Please feel free to share it with your friends. In fact, I encourage it!
 | | Molly Ringwald, 2011 Keynote Speaker |
By now you've probably heard the great news ... Molly Ringwald will be the keynote speaker for our 10th annual Tapestry day Friday, April 29. I can only hope you are as excited to meet her as I am. She was a teen-age movie idol for many of us who grew up during the '80s era, and now she stars in The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family. It has been fun to see people, even men, light up when they hear she is coming to Tapestry!
Molly Ringwald will share her views on Pretty is a State of Mind: Empowering Women to be Their Best True Selves. Through her new book, she seeks to empower women everywhere to be "the sexiest, funniest, smartest, best-dressed, and most confident women possible," no matter their age or background. What woman doesn't need a little bit of that?
As we near Thanksgiving, please know that you are on my thankful list this year. I, along with the Tapestry Steering Committee, appreciate your continued enthusiasm for Tapestry and its scholarships. It's going to be a fabulous 10th year celebration!
Warmly,
Ruth Stone Tapestry Project Manager tapestry@ipfw.edu 260-481-6854

Ten Years of Tapestry
We are celebrating 10 years of providing a day for women to meet with friends, rejuvenate, and educate themselves all while raising funds for scholarships. Of course, this milestone has made us a bit retrospective. Take a look at how Tapestry has grown: - Attendance has increased from 390 women in 2002 to 1,288 in 2010
- The Scholarship Endowment fund started at zero in 2002 and has grown to an incredible $372,000 in 2010.
- The Tapestry Health Sciences Scholarship has helped 24 students complete their education by awarding $69,000. In 2010 we awarded five scholarships totaling $28,000. We hope to surpass these amounts in 2011!

Tapestry Dedication Nomination Deadline is November 15
 | | 2010 Honoree, Betty Stein |
Great women touch our lives everyday. Take a moment to think about those who have given you "a hand-up," as last year's luncheon speaker Sandra Lee said. Ask yourself if one is an especially good role model in all aspects of family, community, and profession. If she is, nominate her for the Tapestry Dedication Award. One fantastic woman will be honored during the breakfast program at Tapestry for her exceptional example. Nomination deadline is Monday, November 15. For more information, visit the Tapestry Web site. |
